We stayed at the Old Bank House for the 2 nights preceding our walk on the St. Cuthbert's Way. We arrived early but Dave welcomed us and checked us into a lovely room with en-suite bathroom. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. The bathroom was large, with a make-up table, and large bath towels. The shower was a bit... More

Very well decorated and furnished, very comfy and clean, with a huge selection of paintings adorning the staircase, we were in room1 at the back close to the abbey, and it was quiet. There is no parking connected to the house but there is close by. It is also surrounded by bars, coffee shops and lovely crafty shops. Breakfast was very good,... More

Dave the owner is a real character, a bit provocative and is extremely proud of his B&B, and so he should be. It's a gorgeous multi level B&B in the centre of Melrose. Dave has clearly spent some considerable time developing his B&B into a regional winner. He's decorated the walls with a multitude of artworks, gathered together an eclectic... More

This classic B&B was a very good stay with many floors and a solarium. Some windows had pleasant town views. There was art all around and lovely blue china in the beautiful dining room. Altogether it was esthetically pleasing. While the room was spacious the bathroom may be politely called “cozy” with a tight shower. Our host might be termed... More

This is a lovely town house in a charming borders town. It is clear that the owners have made a huge, and successful, effort to create a characterful and welcoming home from home for their guests. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the accommodation, and there was obviously a real pride in the quality of the... More

What an unexpected little treasure of a place to stay! We'd read several reviews about the Old Bank House and looked at the photos online, but on arriving in Melrose were amazed at what a beautiful, stunning house the Old Bank House is. Our room was well equipped, clean and immaculately tidy as well as being attractive. Dave welcomed us... More

Located in the very heart of the charming village of Melrose, you will find this funky, fun and fantastic B&B. The rooms are large and well appointed with comfortable beds, and quirky pictures and brick-a-brack. A well-prepared full Scottish breakfast is served in the lovely and homey dining room by the affable and mildly eccentric David who acts as chief... More

I needed accommodation in Melrose for a meeting at the nearby hospital the next day. I got an excellent double bedroom at the top of the house, with a very large en-suite, and with nice views out towards the nearby abbey. There was free wifi and also tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast is served in a large and... More

We visited Melrose on a really snowy 6 Nations weekend. This is probably one of the most unique B&Bs I've stayed in - it was so clean and the rooms were beautifully decorated, but in the public rooms there were fascinating objects everywhere. The cooked breakfasts were fabulous. The location in Melrose was fantastic - central so that we could... More
