From the courteous and friendly welcome to the comfortable and spacious bedroom (and we had the cheapest room), to the excellent meal and service generally, to the beautiful building and grounds, we had a faultless stay at this wonderful boutique hotel. Only negative was we only had one night there. Could have spent many more. And to top it all, given the restrictions on drinking indoors, the manager kindly and generously treated the guests to drinks of our choice outdoors around a fire. A great touch. We were on a 16 day motoring holiday around the north of England and Scotland and of the 10 hotels we stayed in, this was the best.

Stayed two nights, and our room, which had a shower only, was clean comfortable and had a lovely view over the gardens. The house probably needs a little investment as it looks a little tired, but has recently changed hands and the new owner, who is very visible, clearly knows what he is doing and is a great host. The dining room (which is beautiful), serves delicious food, although we felt breakfast was a little lacking (for example, the fruit salad was mainly apple). We would have liked to see more ingredients being grown in the walled gardens. The grounds are beautiful and there is lots to do in the vicinity.

Thank you for taking time to respond and provide very useful feedback. Yes, we are under new ownership and with lots of plans for the future, then came Covid and closed us down for several month and put an end to moving forward. With our new owner this is the first year we started growing own produce. This year we have had potatoes, beetroot, carrots, various lettuces, beans, mange tout, various herbs, apples, pears and plums. We aim to continue to develop this for next year. I hope to see you back again and you can follow the development.

Our first visit to Cringletie and we will definitely return. Perfect location for Peebles and the Border Region. The suite had everything, shower, spa bath and TVs everywhere. Nice touches like a fruit bowl, biscuits and a wee dram. The room was modern and the lighting was perfect including very useful night lights. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was superb. Just try the raspberry souffle.

Our first visit to Cringletie and it didn’t disappoint. Located in a tranquil area just outside of the charming town of Peebles, the approach to the hotel is beautiful, a tree lined drive opening up to a vista of this lovely building. A warm welcome and a personal invite from the manager to enjoy an alfresco pre dinner drink was an unexpected but thoughtful gesture considering the times we are living in. Our room, a junior suite was attractively decorated with a view across the park. Our dinner was excellent and the service too. We hope to return before too long.

We very much enjoyed our most recent stay here to celebrate our anniversary. As on our previous stays here we found it most relaxing and peaceful. All the staff were most polite and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The high standard of cuisine and customer service has been maintained over recent years and we hope to stay here for all our special occasions. We would recommend Cringletie to everyone who enjoys a relaxing and peaceful time with excellent cuisine and wonderful staff. Ian Simpson
