This was the first B&B with shared bathroom we have stayed and it was really good and clean. The room was big and comfortable! Breakfast was good quality and tasteful, good variety. It is located near city centre so you can enjoy a nice walk along the river and visit Dumfries. Owners were really friendly too. Definitely, we recommend it!

My mum and my wife and I have stayed at The Merlin many times. It just gets better and better. Beatrice and Jims hospitality is very warm and welcoming feels like going home every time we visit. the location of this b&b is perfect. right on the canal/river that flows through dumfries. a very short walk to robbie burns museum and his home. again, another short walk to pubs. beatrice very welcoming. our room very clean and shared bathroom clean as well. a sink in our room was a very welcome addition. coffee and tea maker. negatives....pillows,...

From the minute you arrived to the minute you leave you are looked after by Jimmy and Beatrice. The Merlin is a B&B to be reckoned with. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the breakfast second to none  Our stay at Merlin was fab-u-lous as always and we will be returning. Many thanks.

My partner and i were attending a wedding in dumfries and stayed for two nights at THE MERLIN. Our room was lovely with tea making facilities, biscuits and a hairdryer provided for us. We were a short walk from the town centre across the river via the nearby suspension bridge. Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of items. Also...

Our first time at The Merlin B&B. Beatrice and Jim made us welcome, everything we needed was there, breakfast was fantastic. Superb location overlooking river, no traffic so very quiet. Wonderful walks.

Great value. Lovely greeting with friendly owners. Accommodation was quiet and cozy. Wonderful breakfast with the best scrambled eggs we have had during our holidays! Oh.... and a great location with a short walk to the town centre - plenty of sights to take in. We recommend this B&B 👍

a very warm welcome when we arrived was the start of our stay . Our room had a marvellous view of the river nith and had everything to make our stay comfortable. Its location is ideal for centre and is still very peaceful and quiet.The breakfast was cooked to perfection and plentiful. Would have no hesitation in recommending this b&b...

Room was beautiful, breakfast good, Tattie Scones perfect. Very welcoming and happy to give advice on what to see and where to go. Easy walking distance from the town center, so for location it was ideal

Really enjoyed our stay here! Hosts were so friendly and welcoming, food was amazing. Couldn't of asked for more in our stay. Couldn't recommend it enough. We will definitely be back when we next visit Dumfries x
