Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not sure I'd call it luxurious... comfortable maybe No washing machine which is difficult for 4 people for a week. Id rather not have a dishwasher a washing machine is much more of an essential for me No frying pan or fish slice which is a bit weird so had to buy them Toilet pan is so low I struggled due to my arthritis + God forbid your not a skinny Minnie if you want a shower The staircase in the living space for a room that can't be used is ridiculous...remove it + gain some space! No rom to move around the beds in the guest bedroom...again a struggle for me The hot tub had a broken jet but we weren't informed until we arrived We also had a power cut the 1st night although it was fixed quite quickly As for the wifi....what a joke No connection for half the week In this day + age it's a bit poor not to have a decent connection If I'd brought my kids they'd be bored rigid at night not being able to log on In saying that it is a beat location + very peaceful but not sure I'd come back to the Cairn Valley lodge Maybe to one of the more modern ones although I gather they're a lot more expensive

Just returned from a tranquil week away. The lodge was stunning, well kitted out and very clean. The views are spectacular and we had a lovely warm welcome as well as an information pack which provided us with any additional information needed. The highlight for me was watching the baby deer hopping by the lodge as i was eating breakfast. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Had a lovely 3 night stay here. Lodge was lovely and clean, hot tub was great, had to have it turned up slightly as wasn’t warm enough but called and they came straight away. Had problems with the heating, couldn’t get it to come on, meant to inform staff before we left but forgot all about it as it wasn’t a major problem and it wasn’t too cold. They were very helpful and friendly when we went to ask the best place to go shopping. Dumfries town centre only a 10 minute drive away and Gretna outlet only a half hour drive. Lovely wee Italian restaurant in Dumfries, don’t rely on sat nav as it takes you round the other end of it. Pricey but lovely food. Pizzeria Il Fiume. Lodge has everything you need for your stay with complimentary tea, coffee and shower essentials. Only downside I would say is the checkout time. We have stayed in several lodges over the years and the earliest check out has been 10/11, this one you had to be out by 9 which I find after a weekend away is a bit too early but overall we had a lovely stay and would return. 🙂

This was our second stay at Nunlands in the past 2 years and we have been left wanting to go back a third time. We stayed at the criffel hilltop VIP 2 years ago which was stunning but we decided to go for the Mabie Valley Lodge 2 as there was only myself and my partner going this time around. Upon arrival we were welcomed by staff & taken to our lodge, we were shown how everything works and then we were left to relax. The staff provide everything you could possibly need on a small break away, washing up liquid, dish towels, an iron and Hoover, all the essentials and they also have a booklet that has loads of helpful phone numbers for taxis and takeaways etc. the best part by far is the serenity in the park, the 2 nights we stayed were extremely quiet all through the night, being out in the hot tub during the day or night is absolute bliss. We really couldn’t be happier with our stay❤️

Just returned from a weeks break in a Mabie Valley Lodge which I would highly recommend if you are looking for peace, quiet and the perfect base for touring the local area. These stunning lodges are equipped with everything you need for your stay and are in a beautiful location. Shops, restaurants and numerous activities are only a short drive away. Many thanks to Tracy and the team for a perfect holiday

We stayed for four days from the 15th to 19th August in the Cairn Valley lodge and brought two dogs with us. Check-in was listed in the booking as after 4pm but we received a text from Tracy advising the lodge was ready from 3pm and we checked in earlier. Cairn Valley lodge was very well appointed, very clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. Neil followed us over to the lodge and showed us how the hot tub works and ran over the arrangements for the bins and facilities. The team really couldn’t be any more helpful and friendly. The weather wasn’t great but that didn’t stop us! Nunland is like a little piece of Scottish paradise. Sitting on the decking watching the carefree starlings and other birds frolicking around from dusk to dawn. It is so peaceful and relaxing watching the rabbits enjoying the immaculately maintained grounds and running around the areas of the park which have been left for wildflowers and grasses to grow. Far too often you see wild grasses and wildflowers being cut down with little to no thought of the needs of wildlife and insects. From the listing I had assumed the second bedroom was up the spiral staircase which can be seen in the living and dining area. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor and next door to each other, so don’t be put off thinking the twin bedroom needs you to climb those stairs, it doesn’t. Tesco, Home Bargains, Pets at Home etc are all within a short driving distance and there are some great Chinese takeaways nearby. We ordered the deluxe snuggle pack and we felt it was great value for money. The flowers, champagne and chocolates were beautiful. The use of the robes, slippers and extra large bath sheets made using and enjoying the hot tub so much easier. My only non-positive feedback about the facilities would be that I found the double bed was uncomfortable but that may just be down to a matter of personal taste. I’d also bring a fan if you were staying during warmer weather.

I cannot highly recommend Nunlands enough! From the moment we arrived we were received with a warm welcome (despite a storm!) and were escorted to the most beautiful lodge (Mabie 2) with a hot tub ideal for a couple. We were welcomed to explore the land and enjoy the scenery which we took full advantage of when the sun came out! Very quiet and peaceful yet conveniently located near a main road for access to Castle Douglas or Dumfries. The lodge is clean and modern and just perfect! We’ll definitely be coming back

We stayed here for 5 nights in one of the Mabie Lodges, it was an amazing experience. Lodges are spotless, modern with all the mod cons you need for a home away from home experience. Hot tub was great, functioned well and gives you privacy. Check in was faultless, we were greeted with a friendly smile, lots of info about the area and lodge. The staff are proud of their lodges and it shows. We had a great week and I recommend this place to everyone. We will be back 😁
