Mossyard camping site is in a wonderful location next to beautiful sandy beaches. The site is spacious and well appointed for tents and Motorhomes. I was there for two nights with family. The showers and toilets were very clean, however the showers, in both the gents and ladies were quite dangerous. There is a charge for using the showers, 20p, not a lot but because we did not know this until we arrived were scrabbling around looking for some change. Once we used the showers we found that the shower controls were either broken or very worn because it was almost impossible to regulate the temperature of the water. The water can go from cold to very hot in a second or two or back to cold again just as quickly. When using the showers you have to be very careful not be scalded by the hot water. I could only use the shower by standing back, soaping then rinsing by cupping hands under the water. This was far from satisfactory. I used two different showers and experienced the same issues. My wife and daughter also had the same problems in their showers. It seems that new shower controls could probably rectify these issues. Also, in this day and age where many people pay using smart phones and credit cards and might not have loose change, is it not time to do away with payment for showers? Do not let my comments put you off, the site is lovely, but be careful of using the showers. Had the showers been better, I would have had not hesitation in giving this site 5 out of 5.…

Seriously, this has got to be one of the all time best caravan sites. We stayed in one of the static caravans, our second year, and it has everything you need. Just unpack and relax. It is right on the beach, we took our two small dogs, so wonderful for walks. The owners even have a welcoming pack of goodies for your stay. Fresh flowers too await you.

We recently stayed in one of the lodges at Mossyard. They are beautiful. So well designed and brilliantly equipped. You couldn’t ask for more. The location is idyllic with the lodges looking out to sea and the beach only a short walk. This is the best self catering accommodation that I’ve stayed in to date. We will be back!

Mossyard have caravans and lodges to let as well as being a camping and touring caravan site. Just got back from a weeks holiday, staying in Pebbles, one of their static lets. Furnishings and accessories are all of the best quality. Everything you need is there ie, hairdryer, toiletries, kitchen cleaners, Hoover ideal if you have a dog, dab radio. Everything like a home from home. Location is stunning but be aware it is a working farm so you’ll get noise from sheep and coos. The beach is huge when the tide is out. One side nice and shallow and the opposite ideal for boats. Amazing base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. We will be back to stay again for our next visit.

Stayed for only one night and to be honest we expected more. The toilet block is well in need of a refurbishment and two showers are hardly enough! The location is ideal but facilities poor compared to other sites in the vicinity.

We were recomnended this place by family and we are so glad we stayed. In fact we stayed an extra night the place was so beautiful. We were in the lower field just next to the sea. The pitch was very generous and the toilets lovely and clean.

Well where shall I start it took us a least 3 year to mange to get a spot on this beautiful campsite. Beautiful seaside pitches, a little grass worn some could do with a more permanent solution you could see where it had been muddy. Facilities are adequate 20p for a shower I think it was. There were two ladies showers only in the upper field. The lower just had toilets which were new, clean and tidy. A local nearby campsite has a shop. There was a fish monger selling fresh goods can on site. It appears that all the pitches / places are given out to those that have stayed before. So if you stayed the first week in August you would get first refusal. So little chance of anyone else getting in. There’s no online booking system. We felt odd and lonely it was obvious most folk there have been going there for 20 years or more at the same time every year and each knew each other. Most other campsites have a definite friendly feeling but we just felt like outsiders despite a beautiful location. Sad and lonely watching others :(…

Stayed at Mossyard some 10 years ago. Accidentally found the place. So lovely we have been back nearly every year since in our own caravan and last year as a treat to one of the dog friendly lodges. And it was a treat. Maybe a bit busy in high summer. We usually go end of season and its worth it. But don't tell everyone!!
