Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have recently stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights for son was getting married there. I was concerned beforehand after reading previous comments about accommodation. I can pleasantly say that the room we stayed in (131) was excellent. Bathroom & Bedroom was clean and Defiantly adequate to meet our needs. Bed was very comfortable! Food was lovely, and catered for special diets. Staff very helpful. The wedding facilities were all lovely….we enjoyed the special event! Thanks to all the staff.

This was our 3rd wedding anniversary, we booked the Ibbetson Villiers suite £175 for one night. We have stayed at Gretna hall twice before. Went into room all looked very nice until closer inspection, dead fly on window ledge,so this obviously hadn't been cleaned. Mould all on window frame in bedroom, very dusty on lamps, and pictures. Very large mark on carpet. Went into the bathroom it was lovely until I looked at window which had no blind but loads of black mould, it was vile. Can't believe for this money they are letting this room out. Called reception told them my concerns they said someone would contact me, had a phone call but asked for her to visit room as I really wasn't happy. Emily came to room a couple of mins later I pointed out fly, dust, carpet and window frames, apparently they were fully booked so offered us dinner which we really had no choice but to accept. Dinner was very noisey was seated right in front of partition where function room was, did tell manager but no reply!. Prawn cocktail was very bland hardly any sauce on it, had fish and chips was really nice. Loud music until gone 11, people knocking on the next door room twice which woke us up. Haven't enjoyed our stay and today we cancelled the Sheriden suite which we had booked for next November, we won't be staying here again, better places to stay for less money

Not the best hotel. More a budget friendly. The rooms are very dated. Stains on the carpets. Small rooms. Dressing tables but no mirrors. 5 sheets of loo roll - that’s it! Cobwebs and dust.. I know it was Halloween month, but that’s taking it a bit too far.

Spent a night in one of the rooms which had its own patio and we sat out in the afternoon sunshine after some shopping at the outlet centre. Our date night deal included a dinner allowance and breakfast. Dinner was delicious and the portions were very generous. Breakfast was self service and was also good. Our bed was huge and the room was spotless. We visited the museum and found it interesting to understand the history of Gretna. We also walked around the grounds of the hotel which are lovely.

Great service the room was very nice and the food was good. It's a bit pricey at the bar, you could get a pint £2 cheaper in the pub along the end of the road. The location is lovely, nice scenery and plenty to do.

Me and my husband attended Gretna Hall after our wedding at the blacksmiths shop on Saturday 23rd September 2023 with our 2 close friends. We stayed for 1 night and thought that the hotel, staff, atmosphere and food were incredible. The rooms were extremely clean and well presented. The staff were very friendly. All 4 of us agreed that STEWART (who I believe was a manager) made our stay so enjoyable. He was engaging, helpful, knowledgable (about everything), welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. When having our evening meal (which was beautiful), Stewart even had a hair grip to hand to hold my husband’s napkin to his shirt (Husband is a messy eater). He went above and beyond with service, hospitality, and expectations. . Overall a fantastic hotel and staff…..in particular Stewart…that man is an absolute diamond!!! Thank you Stewart for making our stay with Gretna Hall so enjoyable and memorable

Stayed for my wedding anniversary the first room I was given the shower door was hanging off the shower was mouldy the chair was covered in stains the carpet dirty and the room covered in dust . The receptionist was not really interested she sent someone to put the shower door on and someone to hoover and dust but no cleaner when done /we were ready to just leave and drive home when we talked to Maria who is the restaurant manager she got us a lovely room and changed our experience she was so helpful . We settled in then had a lovely meal in the restaurant .we didn’t get any sleep as there was a wedding reception on and they were still banging and knocking on doors and shouting till 5am .Breakfast was a nice buffet and thanks to Maria we did have a good time but the hotel needs to clean their rooms no excuse for shower doors hanging off and shower traps full of hair and dust everywhere

We received a lovely greeting from the moment we arrived. The staff are professional, and yet friendly. Our room was lovely, with a beautiful ensuite. Dinner & breakfast were outstanding. The bar was busy but still had a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
