This place is a SHAMBLES. 50% of the arcade games DO NOT WORK and one of them is rigged to drop the 2p’s down into a latch rather than come out into the tray. We paid extra for the fully serviced pitches and the TV’s don’t work- after complaining they still didn’t work. We paid to go onto the park WiFi which also did not work. When I phoned to book we was told that everything was fully open, however when we arrived it was half season and the facilities were open half the day. No night or day entertainment for the kids in the bar area. ( the park was quiet so I understand) but not even any music for back ground noise in the bar area was provided. Half of the changing cubical locks are broke and the lockers hardly work. The swimming pool is FREEZING and the jacuzzi was broke ( I understand things break) but we paid full price for swimming to get into the pool and discover it was broke. I have ill health and only go swimming when a hot tub is included as it helps me. The Operations Manager on front desk advised me she has no authority to issue any compensation so would have to ask someone else. However after to speaking to other managers I was advised she goes in fact have the authority. Feels like we were passed from one person to another. The driving range was shut the whole time, we got told by a young bad mannered employee that it was open but turned up and was turned away because it’s been ‘shut since Covid’ however again…. That was not the case. I will not be returning in a hurry.

This site was in a lovely isolated location in Scotland. The facilities were great and the staff were very helpful. The children loved the pool and our was great to have a meal and a drink next door afterwards. Wifi isn't great but we didn't imagine it would be given its location. There is a lovely forest walk to the beach. All in all a fully enjoyable Easter weekend.

Just back from a fantastic 4 nights at Brighouse bay - We had family and friends from all over to celebrate my upcoming 50th birthday. Cottage , lodges , caravans , pods and touring pitches all book by friends and family , staff were excellent in the leading up to the weekend and were just as helpful when we were there . Kids went swimming in the pool , some went golfing on there 18 hole course , others went to the bar . Some went for a walk down the beach. Loads to do for everyone. Staff at the bar were very obliging and did explain when we ordered food it could be up to an hour and a half wait because it was extremely busy , We were all happy to wait and relaxed with some more drinks . Great entertainment over the weekend as well . Thank you all once again , we hope to be back very soon Would fully recommend visiting

We used to love Brighouse, it had a lovely charm to it, every area separated and sheltered by lines of pine trees, always a hidden cosy feel to the place and family orientated. Not anymore, they've carved the place up to pieces and cut down swathes of mature trees. Since new ownership couple of years ago its getting more and more commercial feeling. Lots of empty static pitches all over the site as long term owners abandon the site and flee. When people who've owned on site for years up sticks and move it tells a story. Not the Brighouse we used to love, not anymore.

I came on to write a review and having see some of the most recent ones was quite shocked. We stayed here and had such a wonderful time I feel I must let people know about our own experience. I came here with my family for a week and we loved it. We stayed in a caravan which was immaculate. The location is stunning and the actual park itself was beautiful. You can tell the upkeep is a priority. We often went walks around the park with our children and as a family that go camping alot we noticed the large pitch sizes and were quite impressed! I told my young children that I was going to write about our time there and they wanted to add that they loved it, they enjoyed how close it was to the beach, and the park on-site was a favourite. They really adored going on the pony rides. They also wanted me to add that the all the staff we met were very friendly ladies. :) We found the shop very well stocked and reasonably priced. The entertainment was lovely, they had a variety on throughout the week, our boys especially loving the children’s entertainment. We also utilised the swimming facilities and dined in the restaurant for lunch and dinner and the food was very nice. We all enjoyed all of our meals that week and went back several times. I personally really enjoyed how peaceful the site was, obviously there are parts that are busier than others but a lot of the family pitches seemed to be situated together near the play park which I thought was lovely. We are planning to return next year and can’t wait!!

It was OK and I accept we went at the ènd of the season. We hired a caravan, which was one of the newer ones. It was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Therefore I would say the accommodation was excellent. The rest of our experience however was average. The leisure club/restaurant opened at 4pm and closed at 9pm. In addition to that it was closeed all day on a Wednesday. We have been used to places like Rossneath, Where they are open every day, and put activities on for children throughout the year. The food was at best cafe standard at restaurant prices. I had a burger in a defrosted bun which fell apart when I picked it up. On my second visit I had gammon and pineapple and the pineapple was hotter than the gammon. However, to put this in perspective my wife had lasagne which she said was excellent. Don't ask me about the shop - it is a shop in name only. The area around the park is lovely and there are some lovely bays to visit which are sandy and very clean. There are also towns (Kirkcudbright) easily acceptable where you can get your groceries etc. We had been here previously, and had camped. That experience was much better, but then again it was the middle of summer. My advice to the company is to leave the camp open off season for touring caravans and camper vans but do not purport to be open for other guests. We are going to Rossneath in December and every facility is fully open.

We visited for 2 nights on our first trip out in a Motorhome. The road down to Brighouse Bay was challenging for a first-timer but the entrance opened up into a wide area for parking and booking in. We received a very warm welcome from the lady at reception despite being later than planned, and our super pitch details were explained. Our pitch had an electric hook up and water (with great water pressure). The pitch was large and half gravel, half grass. The park is clean and tidy: well maintained. Toilets and showers are clean and, tbh, better than I expected, despite being rustic. The showers were hot and powerful…a rare treat, I have been led to believe. The lounge bar is lovely and allows dogs in areas without carpet. Whilst quite pricey, the pizzas and beer were most welcome. The surrounding area was perfect for us with 2 dogs: paths through the woods down onto the beach, which was quiet. The park itself is large but was quite peaceful. There is no mobile phone signal…absolute bliss! We enjoyed our stay - our first in a motorhome.

This a a good site with plenty to do. We were camping with family but apart of a larger group, we had a pitch with electric hook up. The pitches were a good size and well maintained. We was round the corner from the children's play area which again was clean and well maintained. The site was very quiet whilst we was there so we didn't experience noise. We used the club house a few times for drinks and food. The club house is over priced with what I would say as city centre or 5 star hotel prices. The pool was clean but I'm not surprised with the amount of chlorine, it was very cloudy so I wouldn't be surprised if they had recently do a fresh chlorine dump. The changing facilities was adequate although would have been better Swimming costs £5 per adult and £3 per child per session, again in relation to the facilities I felt this was over priced and maybe a offer of a discounted leisure pass would be a good idea. The cleaning facilities was good with plenty of space and hot water to clean dishes. The toilets was clean the majority of the time and the times where they where dirty was down to grown adults unable to follow basic hygiene and it would be unfair to blame the site for their clientele. The site always amended any mess in a timely manner. There are lots of lovely walks in the areas and to head down to the bay on a stary night is a must. I would definitely return to the site but maybe with slightly lower expectations.

We recently had a stay at this holiday park, we chose this site as it was around 1 hrs drive from the in-laws. We stayed in a static caravan with our 3 children. From reading the reviews a week before we stayed I was very nervous about staying here for 7 days with 3 young children, the worries were misplaced - It was an absolute pleasure, the caravan was well spec’d and had everything you could need except a small hoover to pick up after a toddler and a baby. The bar on site did nice food that was very well priced. Don’t believe the reviews saying it’s over priced. We ate at the Selkirk arms one night and it was three times the price than the on-site bar. The pool was aged but clean and warm. All facilities on the site were well looked after with regularly cleaning. The reception staff both at main reception and the leisure centre were brilliant. The booking cost for a brand new 3 bed static for a full week in summer holidays was £900, not bad for a family of 5. I’m not sure why this place has so many recent negative reviews and our experiences have certainly been very good and we look forward to staying again.

A very different experience to four years ago. Staff were largely disinterested at reception and in the shop, which wasn't a great welcome and was the same throughout the stay. Good things: Location New toilet and shower block near the entrance (although toilets frequently blocked) Play area is decent and a good place for kids to hang out Free wifi at clubhouse Bad things: Tent pitches too small, you're right up against your neighbours so it's pot luck who you get next to you and whether they are quiet at night or not. Only way to identify your pitch is by numbers and letters on the electric hook up. Wifi on site doesn't work (so don't bother paying) and no phone signal anywhere. Clubhouse; doesn't open until 12pm now. Food and drink - very average and overpriced (alcohol is city centre prices). Swimming costs extra (£3 a time for kids). A cup of coffee is £3.80! Bar is overcrowded and understaffed at weekends. 20 minute wait to get served on Friday night, followed by a fight and lots of delightful people swearing at their young children - think Shameless and you get the picture. Games room - very poor, most things don't work or just take your money, there is no bowling alley anymore (although it was one of those tiny arcade style ones anyway). Constant unnecessary mowing of the grass by a guy on a noisy sit on mower who took ages (literally hours of noise). A local told us they have applied for a licence to increase capacity to 3000. I doubt we will return.
