Not one to use trip advisor but was left in utter shock after my visit. I visited here the other night with some friends and was disgusted at the lack of social distancing and Covid-19 measures put in place. The place was over run with young people who seem to be totally oblivious to the current pandemic. Made me feel incredibly angry and unsafe that places are being so careless and not abiding by the rules.

Friendly staff and locals in the bar. Also a marquee and garden for safe distancing. Yummy breakfasts and dinners in the restaurant followed by a good night’s sleep - perfect base to explore the countryside. We drove to the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse and enjoyed the scenery plus delish lemon meringue pie and coffee in their cafe.

Visited today and were very happy with the current situation. Tables were well spaced, staff complying with rules and very well ventilated. Obviously it's a tad chilly at this time of year so remember your jumpers for the rest of 2020! Wish people would understand that it is not the staff or owners making these rules.

I am so impressed by our meal at the Garret tonight I felt compelled to write a review. A charming, welcoming, cosy lounge - the food was fantastic value for money and by far the best food I’ve had locally for a long time. Can’t recommend it enough - and I am very fussy. Will definitely not go anywhere else now. The young man who served us was charming, attentive and friendly. Do not go anywhere else in Kirkcudbright because you won’t get better than this I promise.
