We visited Solway view a few years ago and we have been looking for an chance to return over the past few years.
We have previously used the wigwams, which are fabulous. But this time we brought our campervan. We were given a very generous pitch with room for our car to park next to as well as ample space for our dog to explore.
The kids loved the play area and the wide open spaces to race around. The walk to the beach is through a beautiful woodland and well worth the short walk for a quiet and clean beach. The facilities on site are excellent and kept clean and well stocked.
We will definitely be returning soon and recommending it to our family and friends.

After the easing of covid lockdown we were desperate to get away on a camping trip. We came across Solway View because they were having their facilities open, covid safe of course. The site is situated in a lovely spot. There is a short walk (10 minutes) to an isolated beach which is a mixture of sand and stone. Its small but was perfect for us. Our 2 boys loved going in the sea. The site is also in a place where there are short car rides to other beaches, small and big.

The site is about 5 miles from the town of Kirkcudbright, situated on the coast with a harbour. It has a Tesco Metro store, ideal for your camping provisions.

Each camping pitch is big enough for any size tent and vehicle. All pitches also have a picnic table and fire pit which are very handy. Facilities are clean and well maintained. There is a play park for the kids and plenty of grassed areas to play. There is also a big dog walking area.

This is a family site and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. We have a special needs child and we were given access to a family shower room which we were grateful for. The owners added a personal touch by visiting us at our pitch to ask if we were okay and we had everything.

We will definitely be returning in the future! I strongly recommend this family friendly site.

Visited as 2 families of 4 and we were given adjacent pitches on the main camp field which was beautifully looked after and very spacious - the pitches were huge and each came with picnic bench and fire pit. Large grassed area in the middle for the kids to play and a play area for them to meet and make friends.
We had a gorgeous week in the area, visiting Loch Ken, Carrick beach, Kirroughtree for cycling, and meals out in Kirkcudbright. The bay to walk to from the site is lovely and the kids also enjoyed a round of frisbee golf as we packed up on the last day.
The campsite is beautiful with amazing views and for me was just the right size - certainly not over crowded. All the kitchen, toilet and shower facilities were very clean and worked well. There was a laundry room although we didn’t use it.
Will absolutely be back and would highly recommend.

I found this campsite by accident as I was trying to turn round in their gateway. It looked so nice so I asked if I could stay.
The views are wonderful....the name is Solway View, and that us what you get!
Farm walks and wooded paths down to tiny beaches, rocky and a little sandy one.
The facilities were open under Covid standards, spotless and constantly being cleaned. The whole site is neat and tidy, has a children's play area in a suitable place so not right by all pitches, well arranged camping fields with picnic tables.
The pitches are generous.
I was met at the gate by Jane who welcomed me and checked if a pitch was available, then supplied some fresh eggs for my lunch.
It is very reasonably priced and I will be back.

Nice and peaceful pitches are large and well spaced , I have drove past numerous times on way to rock climb at Miekle Ross . Even in the extreme winds I enjoyed a pleasant walk along the wooded coastline accompanied only by Roe Deer and Red Squirrels. I will be back to use as a base to climb also for the chilled atmosphere. Only one very small issue could do with a slightly better area for grey waste from motorhome. Own fire pit is very nice touch nothing better than a fire and a beer .

Just returned home after a weeks stay. What can I say, absolutely amazing! If your looking for street lights, regimented pitching and tarmac roads to your tent your going to the wrong place! Gigantic pitches, an amazing rural area, not a street light for miles, fantastic views and out of this world star gazing is on the cards at this place. We have 5 year old twins and they have loved it. Playground for the kids (but also sooo quiet for any couples who are lucky enough to be child free 😂), amazing walks from the site, cook houses and spotless toilet blocks, what more do you want. Highly recommended, we will definately return 😍

Plenty of room for tents, every pitch has a picnic bench and fire pit. There's a number of toilet/shower blocks, the one we used had an external covered area for dish washing. There was frisbee golf in the field (take your own), and the walk down to the wee beach is well worth it. Great location for exploring the wider area too.

Booked a weekend away with family. We had a running water Wigwam and a grass pitch with electric hook up. The Wigwam was spotless and had great facilities. Having the ensuite toilet was a great bonus. Both the Wigwam and the camping pitch had a fire pit which made for a lovely evening toasting marshmallows. Site was quiet with lots of room and tremendous views. The dogs have their own secure area to run about it, but there are plenty of walks from the site. About 10 minutes walk takes you to a lovely sand / rocky beach which was a great discovery. Plenty of hand sanitiser available and all building were immaculate. A great site, highly recommended and we will most definately be back!

My partner and I stayed here for two nights on our first ever trip with our Opus trailer tent. The site is in a perfect location with fantastic views. Pitches are large and well maintained with each pitch having its own picnic seating and fire pit overlooking the Firth. Amenities on the site are clean and well maintained too and hosts, Patricia and Neil very welcoming. The site is close to local villages with great places to eat and drink. We ate in the Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet and would definitely recommend. Overall a great site, highly recommend and hope to revisit soon.

Two facilities blocks both with wc/showers. One at top of site and one at lower camping field. Should be within 2 min walk from pitch/wigwam.
