Comfort Caravan (3 Bedroom Pet Friendly). Four adults, 1 dog, staying 7 nights.

After reading some of the reviews we were a bit concerned about the cleanliness of the caravan we’d booked. However, although it was rather tired & stained in places, it was generally very clean & the bedding & mattresses were also fresh & clean. There are no mattress or pillow protectors.

The tv reception isn’t the best & there’s no WiFi - just in the taverna which was only open on Fridays & Saturdays. We popped in for a drink on the Saturday & had a pleasant evening in nice surroundings. Dogs are allowed in designated areas of the pub.

The van had one double bedroom & two bedrooms with twin beds. There’s a ‘Jack & Jill’ shower room next to the double room plus a second toilet & handbasin. The kitchen appliances were all fine & the central heating was an added bonus (the Away Resort info wrongly states that the Comfort caravans don’t have central heating or double glazing). There were plenty of crockery & utensils but cooking vessels were very few.

The site itself was fine, with a lovely lake surrounded by trees. The path around the lake was well kept, with just one wet bit & takes about 30 minutes. The grassed area surrounding the private caravans was nicely tended but the area around the rented vans was just rough tarmac which was a shame as it wasn’t the nicest. Trains rumble past day & night which is a novelty at first but gets a bit tedious if you’re a light sleeper!

The staff on site were all very pleasant & helpful.

The site is good for exploring nearby Moffat, the Grey Mare’s Tail, the Earshaig Lochans & St Mary’s Loch. The Old Stables pub in Beattock Village is about a ten minute walk away - the food is very good & the people are friendly. Well recommended, especially the pie!

All in all we had a lovely stay at Moffat Manor & would happily visit again.

Thank you for providing feedback about your stay. We are sorry to hear that you encountered a few issues with the accommodation, despite this, did enjoy your stay overall. We encourage guests to report any concerns so that we can assist or rectify them promptly. It is, however, great that you had central heating for that extra comfort for your holiday. We understand that dogs are an important part of many families' experiences and more, and we are pleased to offer designated areas in our parks to accommodate them. We are glad to hear that you also had a pleasant evening on the Saturday of your stay. Thank you for your kind feedback on the Moffat Manor Resort itself. We are committed to improving our resorts and appreciate your feedback to help us achieve this. Unfortunately, we are unable to alter the noise from passing trains. Our Holiday Heroes work hard to assist guests and we are proud that you found them pleasant and helpful. Your local area information is appreciated and will be helpful to other guests considering a visit to the Resort and area. We are delighted that you had a lovely stay overall and would be happy to welcome you back again soon. Best regards, The Away Resorts Team

Really nice stay despite horrible weather. We stayed in the luxury lodge which was lovely and very comfortable. Three good sized bedrooms and really comfy beds. The main bedroom has a walk in style wardrobe and its own bathroom and shower.
As others have said there is no WiFi which is a shame.
There was an issue with the heating but the staff couldn’t do enough to try and resolve this.
Only thing I would suggest is some leaflets on how to use the fire in the front room and if there was WiFi you would be able to link to Netflix but to be honest we were very busy so not to big and issue.
Surrounding area is very peaceful and defiantly dog friendly. Would consider coming back with hubby and the dog.
Staff very friendly and helpful.

Spent 3 nights here in a very modern caravan by reception. The site is well maintained and there is a beautiful loch to walk around. Very tranquil although there is a railway line very close by. We did get used to the noise however. It’s a short drive to Moffat and nice walks round about. We had a drink in the on-site restaurant which is open at weekends. Was a bit chilly to stay very long though.
The staff onsite were all very friendly and efficient.

The caravan felt very new with a nice balcony. It was modern and very clean and very well kitted out. The only downside was the soft mattresses in the bedrooms, no rails in the bathroom for towels and no side lights anywhere. All easily fixable.
Overall, a very nice stay!!

We did a last minute booking for Moffat Manor as a present to ourselves for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had been before and liked it.

We had our confirmation email and park details sent to us and as it was fairly last minute we spent a fair bit of money on groceries for the caravan and booking dinner in a local pub. One hour before we got there we had a phone call telling us there was no room at the park and that we would be getting a refund.

I told the lady on the phone "XXXXX" that we were almost there and she said she would perhaps be able to get us booked into piper dam and although it was totally in the wrong direction we agreed. We sat and waited and 20 minutes later she phoned back to say that this want possible either but she would do an immediate refund.

We are both retired and my wife is disabled with severe heart failure and we don't really have a lot of spare money. We sat for an hour waiting for the immediate refund so we could try to at least salvage our 30th wedding anniversary but no refund was forthcoming. We phoned Moffat manor back and were told that the refund would take three to five working days. This left us stuck halfway to moffat with melting groceries and no refund to allow us to go elsewhere.

The refund came through on Sunday but by that time we had spent our anniversary throwing out groceries and even worse having to watch casualty ;)

We asked Moffat manor to email us to confirm the cancellation and to forward a copy of the email to my alternative email (which I can get on my phone) 1but this never happened.

The lady "xxxxx" tried her best to be pleasant but it's no fun when you are in your 60's and stuck in a parking place one hour from the destination you have saved up to go to for a special occasion while waiting for another phone call and a refund.

It wasn't a fun weekend. Their customer service has not responded to my emails either

I have recently returned from a two night trip to Moffat Manor from 29th Sep - 1st Oct. This is the second and last time I visit this site.

On arrival (approx 4:30pm), we were advised that the company had attempted to call me to advise that they were cancelling my booking as they had a leak on site. Having not received this call, I was happy to discover that staff had managed to resolve the issue by the time we had travelled from Glasgow and our 'luxury' caravan awaited us.

Nearby, it was obvious that maintenance was ongoing as there were large craters in the ground.

Once inside the caravan, I was disappointed to discover a very basic caravan with a piece of raised decking which was considered 'luxury'. The caravan was very small and contained nothing more than the basics. Having regularly visited other camp sites, I have been more impressed with other standard facilities.

As the time progressed, we discovered that the caravan did not have WiFi, much to the disappointment of my 13 year son. I spoke with the general manager and was advised that we could access WiFi from the local tavern, which we were not intending to use.

The following day, we discovered that we could not access basic television. As the offices had closed, we enquired at the tavern and was advised that BT had cut through a line and they did not have a timescale on when this would be repaired.

On return to the caravan, I was concerned about a very strong smell which I considered to be gas. I attempted to call the out of hours number provided, which rang out. I left a message and asked that someone call me back urgently. I did not receive a call.

On check-out, I reported my concerns to three members of staff who were present at reception. My concerns were not welcomed and I felt that my complaint was disregarded. I was told that I should have advised staff at the time, only to inform them that I had attempted to but did not receive a response.

This is the second and last time that I have visited this site. As a manager within customer service, I consider feedback necessary to support improvement. It is therefore essential that this business improve the service they provide and their manner in which they interact with their customers. It's also vital that they manage all customer concerns, particularly in relation to health and safety, timeously and sensitively.

We booked for a return visit after staying for a weekend in 2019.

We didn't realise the on site tavern was closed for renovation until after I'd booked our stay. It only appeared on a photo of the tavern once searching through the website after booking. This was the main reason we booked the site, but we knew moffat was close by so we weren't too bothered.

We hired a 3 bedroom pet friendly caravan. Charge for dogs was £40 each which seemed expensive (especially for two cavachons) but we wanted somewhere pet friendly and assumed pet charges have increased everywhere since we were last away.

We were late to arrive so were sent excellent checking in instructions by the lovely Jackie and were settled before we knew it in a lovely clean cosy accommodation. Welcome packs awaited us with toiletries, washing up liquid, tea, coffee etc to get us started.

Two minor issues on our first day- one with the microwave and one with the battery in one of the CO alarms. Staff dealt with both immediately and were so good humoured about it. We were provided with a brand new microwave and batteries were replaced in the alarm straight away. Thanks to Jackie and Drew for your help.

There is no WiFi on site because the tavern is closed but actually after our initial panic we didn't miss it and it was lovely to disconnect for a wee while.

There is a gorgeous walk around the lake on site and the scenery is spectacular. So quiet, and even the trains rattling past is soothing (unlike the reviews other travellers have left we actually loved this).

Nearby Moffat has everything you need for a relaxed, indulgent break. Lovely chip shop, Chinese takeaway, great antique shop (go looking up Well Street), great bakers and can recommend the Black Bull Inn for a lovely bar lunch.

There is a small co op in Moffat or a huge Tesco in the retail park around 30mins away in Dumfries.

Can't recommend a stay here enough if you want a cost friendly, cosy comfortable place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle. Some people complain about the lack of flashy facilities but this suits us down to the ground, especially the lovely staff. Thanks so much we'll be back if you'll have us!

Lovely spacious caravan. Fully equipped kitchen with complimentary sponge, cloths mini washing up liquid, really appreciated. Love the container they came in turning into a plant pot with the 'seed pencil'. Can't wait to plant them and see them grow (forget me nots). Pristine bedding. 2 wash basins and 2 toilets were spotless. Loved the powerful shower, again, spotless. Beautiful picturesque site. Nice cold drink in the pub after a lovely walk around the loch on an evening. Would I recommend this site, yes. Would I come back, definitely.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 young children) booked a stay here in July 2022 for 2 nights.

Upon arrival, the office was closed (before the advertised closing time of 5pm). We eventually found someone in the pub who handed us a bag with a key and walked away.

The caravan itself was clean, although nothing like the pictures, and absolutely tiny.

All was “ok” until about 8pm when some extremely loud music started playing in the on site pub. This continued until 1am.

Along with the music, there were cars parking outside and blaring horns, drunks shouting and fighting outside the pub, shouting swear words and best of all, vomiting right outside our caravan.

None of us slept until well after 1am.

In the morning at 9am the office was shut, so we took the decision to drop the keys and find somewhere else to stay.

A formal complaint resulted in absolutely no refund or apology.

I can only assume the prior reviews covered the period whilst the on site pub was closed for refurbishment.

Truly, in 40 years, the worst place I have ever stayed.

I have just returned from a holiday at Moffat manor with my children. We had a great time. The caravan was spotless . All of the staff who I came into contact with were exceptionally friendly and helpful especially Jackie who went above and beyond. The grounds are beautiful and the site is very quiet and relaxed. We went out everyday and I would recommend it as a good location if you enjoy walking and cycling. Moffat is very near where there are plenty of places to eat. I am planning to definitely return .

Myself and my sisters went for the weekend go celebrate a birthday! The caravan was spacious and clean and even had a box of supplies (bin bags, sponges etc) which was a nice touch! We went to the pub on site for some food and drinks although the menu was very small we still enjoyed our food and then played a few games of pool! The staff were lovely and the locals even better! On our second night stay there was a 60’s 70’s 80’s music night and it really was a brilliant night, everyone was up dancing and singing. We put in a special request for my sisters birthday and the full place sang happy birthday and even got a wee birthday shot which my sister absolutely loved and will have that memory. So to all the staff and the locals thank you for making our weekend one of the best getaways!
