I stayed for one night and had one of the annexe rooms beside the car park as I was staying with my dog, this made life very easy getting in and out and not having to walk through the hotel.
Room was a good size, really large comfy bed and decent shower, I was able to check in a lot sooner than the advertised 4pm as I explained I was going walking with my dog and the weather was horrendous, this was a really nice and helpful thing from the lady at reception.
I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal, not a massive menu but a decent choice, I had the fish and chips which were delicious, as was the breakfast in the morning, porridge in particular was very nice.
On returning home I got a call from Tracy off reception saying I had left my walking boots, I said I would drive up for them but then asked if they could be posted, this is no problem and will he arranged.
All in all a good stay, all staff I met were very friendly and attentive, and food was good, I would stay again if I was in the area.
One small point, the heating could do with being left on at this time of year, particularly in the annexe rooms as they are quite large, but this wasn’t a massive issue for me or my dog.

We decided to try this hotel for our last night holiday meal, we were not disappointed!! The staff were lovely and the dining room is very comfortable, great view of the hills to the rear and well spaced out tables. We shared the lemon sole starter which was very tasty, a good choice!! I opted for the steak pie and my wife had the fish cakes, both were very good and with lovely chips. After having a disappointment at the Black Bull (with the menu choice where we had to leave without eating) we were delighted to find a quality establishment with good food to our liking at a good price, can totally recommend for a meal out.

First time there for a meal and it was for a family meal. Food was nice but given that the restaurant was incredibly quiet, the service had no excuse for being so amateur.
Two young staff in duty whom were polite enough but trying to get their attention was challenging. Example - we had to ask for water for the table after our food had been served. Water came but clearly our alcohol drinks needed replenished but waitress walked away without offering us any new drinks or before we had a chance to ask for some.
When we were finished our desserts, our plates were left waiting to be cleared for ages. No attempt to take them away nor offer us coffee. We had to wander through to reception to ask for the bill. Real lost opportunity on their part to up sell on products like drinks.
So nice enough but unless the service staff get a rocket up their sense of attention to customers, I’ll not be rushing back particularly when there are other places on Moffat with better customer care.

I booked a last minute single room at the Annandale Hotel because of M6 holdups, having phoned ahead the extraordinary receptionist said they would keep the restaurant open for us. Well fed and entertained by a folk group in the bar, our party slept well!
Good information from the same source sorted out travel disruption from a train strike the following day and all us travelers went in different directions happily. Thank you so much.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a cycling holiday and it proved to be an excellent choice. The service from the staff was excellent throughout, finding a safe place for me to store my bike. The evening meal was exceptional - great food and attentive service as well as some good wine. Breakfast was great particularly as they offered kippers a personal favourite and coffee & juice were good quality.

Visited for a couple of nights as a quick weekend break having stayed here a few years ago.
Booking process was quick and easy, arrival and check in all simple and i like the off road car parking (street parking is still free but i like being parked out of the way)....
On check in, we were given the option of rooms so chose one in the courtyard at the back the hotel.
Hotel has been recently taken over and part way though some refurbishments which i suspect may split opinion!! I did like the tartan carpeted, wood clad traditional bar it used to have but actually quite like the modern feel it now has (my wife would still prefer the 'Scottish' look).
Bedrooms could do with a little work which i assume is on the cards following the common areas refurb but was clean and comfortable, tea/coffee and hot shower etc.
Breakfast was nice and freshly cooked to order with endless tea/coffee and toast if you wanted.... We didn't have any other meals in the hotel as we'd booked a couple of local restaurants for our stay but used the bar a 'few' times and service and drinks were great.
I've forgotten his name but the young (most people are young to me) lad who was both on reception and service behind the bar was on top of his customer service game, always interested in how we were, where we'd been and if all was ok etc.... he's a credit to the hotel...
Will be interested to see what other refurb looks like and will visit again I'm sure.

This hotel has been our go to on trips up to Scotland to break our journey and it has always been reliable. The hotel and the rest of the town was very quiet post C-19 with many businesses closed down. The hotel seemingly had only three rooms occupied and only one member of staff on duty (apart from the Chef) but what a staff member! Kayleigh was from Estonia and she was receptionist, bar tender and waitress and really made our visit. She had come from Islay and her knowledge of whisky was excellent. The hotel itself was perhaps faded but clean and comfortable and the food excellent- we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed twice at the hotel on the way to and back from Scotland.
Moffat is a pleasant place to stop overnight and the Annandale Arms was easy to find in the main square. The building is clearly very old but appears to have been decorated recently across all public rooms and bedrooms.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we enjoyed both breakfast and evening meals there.
It's a shame the rear of the hotel isn't a bit smarter as it could be a nice area to sit in on a summer evening.

+1
Disappointing after looking at the website and reviews. Think it must have just had a paint and new flags put up! Room doesn’t feel clean, especially the bathroom. Would be easily sortable. Clean better, bit of paint and remove mould from tiles and clean the blinds! Food may well be excellent, but the menu was very limited and made more sense to go to a local restaurant. Bed springy and pillows thin. Next to the stairs as a bonus. Room 201.

Thank you for you enquiry. We have both the bar and restaurant available on New Year's Eve (the restaurant menu is still available at £40 per head). Please message us or ring 01683 220013 if you would like to make a reservation. On December 31st/1st January we have a bar extension until 01.00am and children and young people are allowed in the bar if accompanied by responsible adults.
I hope this answers all of your questions and look forward to seeing you at Hogmanay.
From the Annandale Arms Team
We are delighted to have dogs to stay, please just mention on booking a room that you are bringing dogs so an appropriate room can be reserved for you.
Hope to meet you in March.
Sorry not to have replied earlier, your well behaved labrador would be most welcome. We have the courtyard rooms specifically for the benefit of guests with their dogs, so please mention on booking that you would like one of the dog friendly rooms. We have a large exercise area at the bottom of the car park and there are several nice nearby walks.
