This is a lovely hotel which we used as a stop-off for going to Scotland. Very nice rooms. Great place for dinner. The menu is extensive and really good. Breakfast was excellent. The service was outstanding.
Yet again the staff at the Annandale gave us a very warm welcome and very comfortable stop over either end of our holiday in the Highlands, Elaine and all the staff work extremely hard to ensure we have a happy stay with them, many thanks again and hope to see you all next year some time.
We stayed twice at the hotel on the way to and back from Scotland. Moffat is a pleasant place to stop overnight and the Annandale Arms was easy to find in the main square. The building is clearly very old but appears to have been decorated recently across all public rooms and bedrooms. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we enjoyed both breakfast and evening meals there. It's a shame the rear of the hotel isn't a bit smarter as it could be a nice area to sit in on a summer evening.
I booked a last minute single room at the Annandale Hotel because of M6 holdups, having phoned ahead the extraordinary receptionist said they would keep the restaurant open for us. Well fed and entertained by a folk group in the bar, our party slept well! Good information from the same source sorted out travel disruption from a train strike the following day and all us travelers went in different directions happily. Thank you so much. Angie, Pat +2
Very disappointed. Returned after having a one night visit in October 2021. Arrived just after 4pm. We were given room 23 annexe opposite the car park. Room was very cold and not very inviting…requires updating and bathroom needed a good clean. Woke up at 6am following morning to a very cold room! Heating did not come on until 7am! The staff member advised that she was not in control of when heating came on and off. Because we were so cold we didn’t have a shower.
I phoned the hotel on the 10th March at 17.55 to make a Mothers Day lunch booking for 5 people for 1pm, a lady took the booking and all was good...... until I have just phoned the hotel to double check the booking as I am travelling from Kendal and they have no booking for us and aren't even opening for lunches!!!!! Where do you suggest I get a lunch booking now with 4 days notice???? Very disappointed. I was asked if I'd phoned the correct hotel so I checked through my mobile phone and there it was, date and time of the call.
I stayed for one night and had one of the annexe rooms beside the car park as I was staying with my dog, this made life very easy getting in and out and not having to walk through the hotel. Room was a good size, really large comfy bed and decent shower, I was able to check in a lot sooner than the advertised 4pm as I explained I was going walking with my dog and the weather was horrendous, this was a really nice and helpful thing from the lady at reception. I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal, not a massive menu but a decent choice, I had the fish and chips which were delicious, as was the breakfast in the morning, porridge in particular was very nice. On returning home I got a call from Tracy off reception saying I had left my walking boots, I said I would drive up for them but then asked if they could be posted, this is no problem and will he arranged. All in all a good stay, all staff I met were very friendly and attentive, and food was good, I would stay again if I was in the area. One small point, the heating could do with being left on at this time of year, particularly in the annexe rooms as they are quite large, but this wasn’t a massive issue for me or my dog.…
We pre-booked before travel as it was a special occasion. Sadly we nearly had to cancel as our dog wouldn't settle so we could not leave her as anticipated, however, we were allowed to eat in the bar so we could bring her. The member of staff who we dealt with pre-visit and on the night was amazing (and I can't remember her name!!) The food was lovely, I had a Scottish Haggis parcel to start with homemade sauce - delightful. I followed this with lamb, which was served pink and was sumptuous. Sadly my husband had ordered a burger and it was drowned in mayonnaise which he hates, so that was a shame (serves him right for ordering a burger I say- in such a nice establishment - sorry burger lovers) However this was kindly refunded. I will visit again and hope to eat in the restaurant next time.…
Bang in the town centre with plenty of parking stopped here for the night on my way north. Despite being slightly tired, the hotel not me, I received a warm welcome & was made v much at home. A comfortable stay with v good food. I can recommend the porridge.
I stayed at this hotel as part of a cycling holiday and it proved to be an excellent choice. The service from the staff was excellent throughout, finding a safe place for me to store my bike. The evening meal was exceptional - great food and attentive service as well as some good wine. Breakfast was great particularly as they offered kippers a personal favourite and coffee & juice were good quality.
