Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This short trip for my wife and I was a nightmare. The first room we were allocated had a very creaky ceiling despite us being on the top floor and we were right opposite the south exit of the Tay Road Bridge which is the main link between Fife and Dundee. I informed the receptionist who was very helpful that we had requested a quiet room so he moved us along the corridor to a “quiet “ room. This “quiet” room was right under one of the loudest extractor fans I have ever heard. It was horrendous resulting in a sleepless night. I reported it to the receptionist in the morning who was genuinely sympathetic and apologised and informed me that she would get the engineer to check it out. Another complaint was the bed which sagged in the middle. On the plus side I have to say the breakfast was lovely. Maybe the sleepless night made it taste better. I would not recommend this hotel. They’re are other hotels in the area which I’m sure would guarantee a good nights sleep.

This is a fantastic location with a view of the River Tay, midway between the train and bus stations, which are both just a few walkable blocks away. We came and left on the train and used the bus to make the quick and easy trip to St. Andrews. There is also an Enterprise car rental agency right next to the bus station which we used for travel to the Highlands. The hotel is convenient to a lovely riverside walking path and the local pedestrian area of shops and restaurants and museums. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well supplied. The staff were amazing! They were helpful with our requests for luggage storage, extra towels, ice, extension cords, local directions and were friendly and welcoming, even when they were extremely busy. Breakfast was convenient and well stocked, with tables quickly cleared and cleaned by staff. We stayed a total of four nights and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend!

My husband and I really enjoyed our 2 nights here, we'd been before a few years ago so knew it was a good hotel. Room clean, quiet, comfortable, breakfast buffet marvellous, nice atmosphere, special mention to Sarah who was very helpful and nice when we asked for a quiet room, Karen, Glasgow.

An awful experience. I traveled from Liverpool to stay in the holiday inn express Dundee overnight ready for meetings the next day. The first error was that they put me in a room with a single bed so I had to return to reception and ask for a double room which I had booked. I then asked for a menu to get some food only to find vegan options just not great. The beyond vegan burger I ordered was not available after I had paid for it so I was told I could have mushroom risotto, chips, vegan sausages, or tomato soup with warmed rolls. I asked for chips, vegan sausages and tomato soup. I wanted to take up to my room so waited with a drink. The soup came out first with 2 slices of white bread and no warmed rolls. I was told the chips and sausages would be about 5, 10 mins. Eventually, they came out and I took up to my room on a tray. The chips were awful and the sausages chewy and inedible. The tomato soup lumpy and disgusting. I have never experienced such an awful calamity of errors. if I hadn't been so tired I would of left the hotel. The boy who tried to resolve the room actually tried to warm.up the food as well so not his fault. I think k he was totally embarrassed as he was left to do everything himself.

Next time I’ll stay at a travel lodge. Dark dingy rooms, hotel has potential but needs work. Room was terrible, but clean, breakfast was poor, some of the staff need re-training. Was not a pleasant experience, and definitely not be staying here again.

Perfect location for sightseers. Very close to the V&A museum. The breakfast was great and the staff was nice. Room was a bit stuffy and dim but we opened the window. We took the hop on hop off bus, which was a few minutes away, to get an overview of the city. There's a dim sum restaurant across from the car park.
