The Landmark Hotel & Leisure Club garners approval for its cleanliness, with many guests complimenting the pristine rooms and facilities, though some suggest it's time for an update. A number of guests have found the atmosphere dampened by noise and a lack of warmth, alongside maintenance oversights. Service at the hotel often disappoints due to unresponsiveness and perceived management inefficiency, although there are mentions of positive staff encounters.
While the amenities are generally well-received, especially the leisure club, their upkeep sometimes misses the mark. Additionally, guests frequently question the hotel's value, pointing to steep prices and underwhelming dining options.

Detailed Reviews
Recently stayed here as part of a staycation having booked a deal which included robes and slippers in the room and a bottle of prosecco.
Check in was smooth and room was lovely with large bathroom that comprised of walk in shower and large bathtub.
Room also comprised of a mini fridge which we had gone prepared for taking stuff to create our own mini bar, alcohol drinks soft drinks crisps and chocolate.
Upon arrival there was no robes or prosecco but we soon managed to get both.
The meal in the restaurant was lovely the food was excellent and the next morning at breakfast there was a lovely choice of both continental and cooked breakfast. The croissants and pastries were lively and fresh not a plastic wrapped one in sight.
Arleen, one of the breakfast staff was a Ray of sunshine and whipped around the room like a whirling dervish. The lady deserves a medal.
Some of the reviews are critical and yes bits are a bit tired but baring in mind the troubles the hospitality trade have gone through between brexit and covid it must be difficult getting staff up to full speed but one thing that is without complaint is their friendly demeanour and smiles on their faces.
The pool is uite small so if looking for lane swimming this is not for you but for a quick dook then it's perfect.
It's not a 5 star only because that wouldn't be my true opinion but I'm also pretty sure for 5 star I'd be paying a lot more than what I did. It really is worthwhile staying here great location ,very quiet, ample parking and handy for access into Dundee by car

Our one night stay was fine, the staff were great, but overall the hotel feels a bit sad and in need of some TLC. Our king deluxe was comfortable, if a little dark as window quite small, with a large flat screen tv, sofa, coffee table, large mirrors and nice lighting. The complimentary Prosecco in our deal was welcome. But the carpet was a bit stained and needed more vacuuming, and so for once I wished we had been provided with complimentary slippers! However the bed was super comfortable and the plug sockets were plentiful. The bathroom was large and clean and modern, with slate floor, separate bath tub and shower cubicle, and included soap, shampoo, conditioner and body cream.
Dinner was in the lounge bar, which was fine but understandably a bit lacking in atmosphere. The fish and chips were delicious and the cheese and biscuits were good value. Service from our young male host was excellent. The chairs are in desperate need of replacement, but I’m sure the hotel knows this.
Breakfast with a wonderful garden view in the vast conservatory was good considering the COVID restrictions. Help yourself to juice, coffee/tea, cereals/porridge and make your own toast. The pleasant young man from dinner was there to serve your choice of eggs, delicious bacon, beans, tatty scone, sausage and (not quite hot enough) haggis. No fruit though.
We enjoyed a lovely walk through the hotel’s large grounds and slightly unkempt gardens.
Very handy for Dundee centre which is 2 miles drive away.

We have visited this hotel 3 times since 2020 and it has really gone downhill
Staff seem very inexperienced and it has been different staff every time.
We had a deal booked straight with the hotel that they seemed to have mislaid, lucky we had the e mail confirmation
Rooms were not ready at 3pm and they were seemingly fully booked for evening meal.
They did however fit us in and there was only about 5 other couples eating at same time
An under manager was very rude to a cleaner in front of us which is not professional.
On checking out the bill was incorrect and cleaners were cleaning the room before we had left
But a special mention to Anne at breakfast she is what a hotel is all about please make sure she does not leave.
On the upside rooms were okay and meal was very nice,

Well what a fabulous week I’ve just had staying at the Landmark for the 150th Open at St. Andrews.
The hotel is located south of Dundee near the village of Invergowrie in lovely grounds with countryside views. It’s classed as a 4 star but, it needs a cash injection just to spruce it back up again to its glorious old self. Although after the past couple of years of hardly any business due to the pandemic, its understandable why this hasn’t happened. However, this doesn’t take away from what the Landmark offers in terms of a leisure club with swimming pool, buzzy bar with outside seating area overlooking the beautiful garden, light and airy restaurant with excellent food and the best staff EVER!
I must mention in particular the following people who made my stay extra special; Darren (aka Mr Benn) what this man doesn’t know about the hotel isn’t worth knowing and always on hand to unravel any concerns. Amy – the best Reception Manager anyone could ask for. So bubbly, friendly and helpful and always wearing a smile. Daryl – front desk supervisor , always up for a friendly chat and nothing is too much trouble. And finally Ross – barman extraordinaire – his friendly banter and way with the guests was outstanding. To be honest all the staff (too many to mention) from the cleaners to the waiting on staff were a credit to the hotel and I think every guest would say the same.
I stayed in a King Superior room. The bed was so comfy and HUGE (like the tv screen) and as I was working, the large desk and office chair were perfect. The room had tea and coffee making facilities and the bathroom came with basic supplies such as shampoo and bath/shower gel. I did expect a shower cap and a face cloth as well but face cloths aren’t something the hotel provides and I’m sure had I have asked reception, a shower cap would have been supplied.
The food and drink weren’t too badly priced for a hotel but I would have liked to have seen the menu change after a few days! When you’re staying a week I think expecting a menu change is perfectly reasonable especially when the menu at lunchtime is just a smaller version of the dinner menu! That being said, when I asked for things that weren’t on the menu the kitchen staff did accommodate me – don’t get me wrong I only asked for a simple sandwich but what I got was nothing short of delicious with a salad garnish and a lovely little pot of tortilla chips.
A taxi into Dundee from here was around £11 and the hotel were only too happy to organise that. The village of Invergowrie is a 10 minute walk away and if you have a car there are shops and supermarkets about a mile away.
I’d definitely stay again given the chance and I’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone at the Landmark for making me so welcome.

Arrived at the hotel person on reception wasn’t overly welcoming but done the basics have us our key told us where the room was, when entering room it was clear it could do with a paint and a few cracks on walls and ceiling needing filled, bath not properly cleaned. Bed was comfy but radiator in room was making a noise and was constant all night.
Dinner- food was good however before we arrived we were offered a deal of 2 courses for £22.50 which we took but when we got the menu the food we ordered cost a total of £21, usually when you get a offer it’s to save money not to make the hotel extra.
Breakfast- again food was good, however service poor got sat at a table and left no info about were to find anything, it’s a buffet breakfast help yourself etc. Seemed to be more staff on that was needed which lead to staff just standing talking to each other and on there phones. Once again not very welcoming when speaking to you.
Not sure if we’d return, better hotels for the same price range round about.

We booked a one night special deal here which included dinner, bed and breakfast plus a bottle of prosecco on arrival. It was very busy when we arrived, and we could see there was also a wedding on. Arrived at 2 30PM and after waiting 15 minutes in a queue to check in we were given our room. On walking into the room (the door was ajar) we saw the room was filthy, the bed had been stripped but nothing else. I spoke to a cleaner who was hoovering the corridor who told me that room wasn't on her list to do. We went back to reception to complain (joined the queue again for another 15 minutes), were given another room which I was assured was ready to go, back along the corridor-same scenario room not ready. Back to the desk, join the queue again (by which time I felt smoke must have been coming out my ears!) I then just asked for a refund, to be told can't authorise that, need to wait till the manager comes. Eventually ?manager came young guy, hair in bun, no apology just 'give her a refund '. Wasted a full hour in the place, during which time we heard many people asking to book for dinner which we heard them say sorry fully booked not taking any more reservations. The place is 5 miles from Dundee so you're stuck if you wanted something to eat. The whole place looks rundown and grubby, if you are looking for a nice wee overnight treat give this place a miss.

My husband and I had a wonderful 2 night stay here whilst house hunting in a local village. The staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly (specifically to mention our waiter Connor who did a wonderful job of taking care of us on a busy Friday night & then Saturday morning breakfast service - the first weekend of their reopening following COVID restrictions being eased). The hotel had a comfortable bed, great sized bath & lovely outdoor maze. I used the leisure facilities both mornings and had the place pretty much to myself. The gym was kept clean and regularly checked by staff to ensure it was kept as Covid secure as possible. Both members of staff on the early morning shift were helpful in getting extra paper towels for cleaning and also providing a new mask when mine was lost. I would definitely recommend the hotel, leisure facilities (all tho the gym is very small) and restaurant - they did some lovely food - incl. beer battered fish and chips + ribeye steak. The chef was even happy to make some small adjustments to my dinner order & managed to make some fried mushrooms for breakfast even tho the delivery of fresh produce had only just come in. A great visit all in all. I’m sure we’ll stay again & recommend to others.

We booked to stay on great deal of 3 course meal, bottle of Prosecco and breakfast a great deal to get people back into hospitality.
On arrival to the hotel we were handed our room key and no other information giving as what time breakfast is, where the pool was, how to book etc...! The room itself was very nice, great big bed and lots of space can not fault the room.
We headed for dinner at 6.30 the menu looked lovely and we ordered our meal.
My fiancé had ordered the soup and when it came it was a different soup that he didn’t like, the waiter apologised and let him pick something else. Our main courses then followed and the food was beautiful couldn’t fault the food, then we sat at our table for 45 mins with our dirty plates and empty glasses as numerous members of staff walked by us and never cleared our table nor offered more drinks. A member of staff then sat down to their dinner and was served all their courses and drinks while we still sat waiting. Eventually we decided to just get up and leave as we felt uncomfortable sitting that long with dirty plates waiting on our dessert.
On the way out I stopped and spoke to a member of staff and explained to him that we had left. Yes he was apologetic but it doesn’t excuse the problem. We then met this staff member again in the corridor who offered us a drink to the room we politely declined as we had a bottle of Prosecco still to drink. Headed back to the room and called for an ice bucket for the processo and was told they were short. We had friends staying on the same deal and they had their bottle in ice as they arrived to the room! It’s great to do a deal to get people back in but not to over fill the deal that you can not provide the service to each customer.
On checking out the girl never asked how are stay was but quickly told me I had money to pay for the drink with my meal... this was the icing on the cake that after all the hassle with dinner the least they could of done was remove two cokes.
Bill settled and would not return.
I emailed the hotel all this information and was hoping for a reply but the “great” service continues and didn’t receive an acknowledgement nor a reply.

Stayed here with my partner for one night and we both had a fab time. We felt like nothing was too much trouble. We booked the deal on offer through itison, 1 night, 3 course dinner, breakfast, late check out, full use of facilities and a bottle of prosecco on arrival.
When we arrived the lady on reception was lovely and very friendly. We had booked our dinner times and leisure facility times in advance, which we were glad we did as it was very busy, with it being their first week back after lockdown.
We noticed there wasn't the bottle of prosecco in the room so we phoned reception, who brought it up straight away. They brought it up in an ice bucket with two nice glasses which I felt was a fab touch.
The dinner was very good and the lady serving us was fantastic, she chatted away, which I really liked. The sticky toffee pudding was a massive hit.
During the night I struggled to sleep, no fault of the hotel though... My partner likes to snore 😂🙄. About 5am I gave in and decided to just get up and go for a walk around the hotel grounds. I asked at reception if there was anyway I could get a hot drink (bar was closed at this time in the morning) and the gentleman on reception (wish I caught his name) was ever so helpful! He replied "of course, no problem, head to the bar and I will make you something". I had a wee cheeky got chocolate and explained I couldn't sleep due to my partners snoring which he found very funny. He let the hot chocolate bill slip, since we booked breakfast included. Which I thought was so lovely considering he had went out of his way to make me something specially. He is fantastic at his job. After then going for a little walk and getting back around 7.30am I also asked him if it was possible to have more milk pots for the rooms tea making facilities, which he helped me with and gave me more.
This hotel is honestly made by it's staff. The staff and their friendliness was definitely a big highlight, especially after working from home for months and rarely seeing people.
Thank you for a fantastic night away.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and really impressed by the standard of hygiene and social distancing. Everyone was wearing face coverings and all areas were spotless. Staff were very attentive at all times, couldn't do enough for everyone. I must give a special mention to Keith in the restaurant/bar, he is a star! Dinner was served in the bar from a restricted menu but everything was delicious. Breakfast very good too. Our room spacious and bed very comfy, a really good nights sleep. Can't wait to come back.

As a hotel guest you can use the pool and sauna free of charge. The pool and sauna are both very nice and well used.
Get a taxi, the hotel can arrange it and it is only £6
Sorry for late reply. Breakfast was served at your table. Lovely it was too.
