The location of Duntrune House is outside Dundee up in the hills and protected by a little forest to the road side leading to it. So my navigation system - guided by the postal code - stopped a couple of hundred meters before while coming from Dundee. Just go on and the gateway to the house is on your right. Once you entered it a wonderful Victorian villa surrounded by a great park with views towards the sea is waiting for you. Olwyn and Barry are wonderful hosts. They took me around the house, explained everything, giving also insights in the old history of Duntrune and once of a sudden one could smell the hidden history. I stayed in Duncan bedroom which was a blast in terms of space and comfort. The bed is very comfortable and the room absolutely calm with a great view on the gardens and the sea. The bathroom fits perfectly in the entire concept - retro style but with all modern equipment one is expecting today. The only little constraint concerns especially Duncan room, since WIFI is not really working in that part of the house. The breakfast is served in the dining room. One single round table serves all guests a table of reunion. And it was a wonderful experience to be there with other guests from the U.S and France and having a great exchange about God and the world. Barry proved to be a great cook preparing wonderful filled omelettes and excellent smokies - fresh and delicious.

They usually do not take a booking for one night. Dundee is a very interesting port city. Our hosts Olwyn & Barrie are lovely charming people and gave us a tour of the home. They bought the home in disarray and worked side by side to refurbish it. Large grounds & very peaceful place. One of Scotland's best B & B's. Olwyn has a small frig on the 2nd floor landing stocked with fresh fruit & milk for your morning coffee.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. It's a pity it was so short as there was much more to explore. However I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Scotland.and we will see you back some day..

I stayed with family here recently . The hosts Barrie and Olwyn made us feel very welcome , were very helpful with trying to assist us in our family history and Barrie served up a delicious breakfast every morning with local delicacies such as arbroath smokies, haggis and porridge to enjoy. The house is located up a big hill north of Dundee which made it a useful location as you could avoid travelling through dundee if you wanted to see more of the coast or glens . The only point would be that its difficult to reach by public transport so best come by car

Fantastic stay at Duntrune with wonderful hospitality. Arwyne & Barrie are great hosts and nothing too much trouble. The house itself is a huge mansion with high ceilings and fabulous antique furnishings. Highlight for me was the art deco bathroom. It really was a privilege to stay in such a place. And the beds so roomy and comfy. Good breakfast too, and would recommend the home made porridge. Great location from which to explore central Scotland - we had say trips to Edinburgh, Stirling, St.Andrews. All about an hour away. We (my wife and Russian mother-in-law) stayed for 3 nights and I really hope we can all visit again soon. I'll encourage my wife to write the first Russian review of Duntrune......thanks A & B

What an extraordinary experience to stay at the Duntrune House! The house is magical, no doubt, and the grounds are the most beautiful I have seen, but the true magic rests in the lovely host and hostess. They, in themselves, provided one of the biggest highlights of our second anniversary trip to Scotland, Paris and London. Olywn and Barrie were such a delight to visit with and took such great care of us and their beautiful home! Barrie is a descendant of the author of Peter Pan and that showed in his sweet demeanor and care for us. We had a fun, lively conversation with Olywn, with Barrie interjecting in a lovely way, that was such fun for me. They know how to entertain, but they also have the ability to see when their guests need down time or to be alone. We exchanged thoughts about a whole host of interesting issues and found that our American background actually had a lot in common with their background. Except that they can trace their heritage back to 1200 and we can't. :) They are truly an inspiration and we loved the infinite care they give their gardens and grounds, the food they serve, the cleanliness of the house, the fun conversation they engage in and the authentic experience of visiting with Scots. We stayed at some of the most luxurious hotels and other B&Bs on our trip and the Duntrune House was definitely the highlight!! I promise you will thoroughly enjoy your time there!!

Wow! What a wonderful review. We too enjoyed the conversations with our visitors from Colorado Springs. We hope you enjoyed your round of golf in Carnoustie following the Open.in spite of your early start and that you had a comfortable journey home. You will be welcomed back at any time so that we can put the world to rights again!
