On arrival the hotel looks nice from outside however the car park area looks it could do with a lot of repair work which brings the look down. Inside we were was met with a friendly receptionist and made us feel welcome. Due to the fact there was almost no one stating she was also our waitress when we had afternoon tea which was really nice. The rooms are spacious and we both had a good night sleep and enjoyed the personal touch of a bottle of fizz. Breakfast was a mixed review. Milk was not chilled for my cereal but never stopped me having it. Toast came with butter but due to not chilled butter it was a runny mess which was all over our table so no toast. The Scottish breakfast was great which my wife loved however I was unable to eat mine due to the fact no sauce or beans were offered and no one came and asked if I needed any sauce or salt. So my lovely breakfast was too dry for me to eat and due to no staff around . Time I could have shouted to the other side of the restaurant to the only waiter it went cold. Would I stay here again is always the question you need to ask. Overall and due to the circumstances probably would be a YES. Over all had a above average stay. …
Due to Covid my Son had to rearrange his wedding and make it a much smaller celebdration than they wanted. The staff at the Park hotel did their best to ensure the day was just as specia. I can not thank them enough, the meal was amazing the staff could not do enough for us. Our rooms were great and very spacious for us to get ready in. Breakfast was served at the table and could not be faulted. Despite it being down scaled we all had a great day. Wedding co-ordinator was so kind a very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would reccomend thgis hotel!
First visit at the Blues Restaurant within the hotel. Lovely restaurant, well spaced out tables & good hygiene measures in place. I struggled to find something from the menu as I’m sure it was actually a dinner menu, but everyone else had the same menu. I’d suggest adding some lighter meals to the lunch menu, eg sandwiches. Anyway, I had the tempura king prawns, which were amazing! Everyone else at our table loved their food too - macaroni cheese, Cajun chicken burger, tempura chicken. Nice staff, service was a bit slow but it was quite busy.
We were booked in at The Park Hotel on 31st July and 1st August 2020. All staff we met were friendly and welcoming in both the hotel and restaurant. However, we did not sleep due to excess noise and movement from the room above us on the first night. The second night they made sure that there were no occupants in the room above which we appreciated. We were expecting some recognition of the lack of sleep on the first night when we checked out but did not hear from the general manager until I called the hotel to check my complaint has been passed to him. His comment and handling of this shocked me as his response was “The Park is not a premier inn, therefore does not guarantee a good nights sleep”??!! if you want to be sure of sleep don’t go to The Park as the general manager obviously doesn’t care! We will not be back!…
The Park Hotel is located just half a mile from the town centre and overlooks/ doubles up as a confrence centre for the football club/ stadium. The rooms are large, airy and excellent value for the money they charge (£60 odd). They feature large plasma TV screens, good internet provision, biscuits and included in the price are parking and a top draw breakfast. The veggie option (particularly the haggis and pancake) was something else. If it's good enough for the footballers who were dining there before training, then its good enough for me. Sitting and watching the groundsmen do there work is also a great way to while away your morning during breakfast. There's only one minor criticism I can think of so I'll sandwich it here between all the other positives; the double beds were clearly two single beds pushed together so weren't as comfy as they could have been. Communal areas were very modern and refurbishment work was underway during my stay so no doubt the hotel's facilities will have been further improved since then. I will certainly remember this place should work bring me over to this neck of the woods again.…
