Eden Locke boasts a prime location that garners high marks from guests for its proximity to local attractions, which allows for easy exploration. The hotel's rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and quietness, with many appreciating the well-thought-out amenities like kitchenettes.
However, some visitors point out issues with noise disturbances and question the value due to the high prices. Despite this, the friendly and attentive staff, along with the cozy and modern atmosphere, consistently earns praise from travelers.

We spent four nights at Eden Locke and felt very comfortable. The kitchenette with coffee and tea is perfect, large fridge with freezer, also dishwasher. we did not need, but used the extra sofa and made ourselves comfortable. In addition, there is a fan, a large sheet as a blanket replacement in case the other blanket is too warm, and a yoga mat, as well as a working safe. Personal welcome, all top!

Between a small hotel and an Airbnb, the Eden Locke comes with neat, clean rooms and a very ‘fresh’ look. For stays of less than a week there are no cleaning but you will find everything you need by asking. The entrance is from the bar which is open for most of the day and where you can - if you want - also have breakfast. The location is strategic, on the border between the new town and the old (within easy walking distance). The only flaw: the price of the rooms is a bit exaggerated in relation to the service offered.

Overall, I was really happy with my 8 night stay with Eden Locke in Edinburgh. I was in one of the apartments on the 3rd floor facing George St - several reviews I read ahead of time commented on the evening noise generated by the late night bars around and I really didn't find it bothersome. My home is in a major metro US city so city noise is pretty easy for me to drown out, but the room was supplied with a noise machine and ear plugs. The noise was really only noticeable on Saturday night. I could see that a lower floor room with a more noise sensitive guest might not be a great combo.
The check-in process was really seamless, and they were able to store by bags since I arrived early and they even placed my bags in my room once it was ready so they were already up there when I came back later in the day. They have a nice intro letter orienting you locally and with instructions on how to use the appliances -- that was definitely helpful for the washer/dryer :)
I felt super safe as a solo female traveler in this location and accommodation; however I do wish there was additional room door security other than the dead bolt. I did bring a door securing mechanism with me so I felt fine, but something to think about.
The only negative I can really point to is the bathroom lighting is very dim - if you're trying to do any makeup more than your tried and true daily makeup you can do in the dark, the lighting is not great for it. I'd say pack a portable makeup light mirror if you're going to do a full beat.

Hi Katiek11475, Thank you so much for your detailed review and for choosing Eden Locke for your solo trip! I'm delighted to see that you had a positive experience and that city noise wasn’t an issue for you, despite the lively surroundings. It's great that the noise machine and earplugs were appreciated. I'm also glad to read that the check-in process went smoothly and that you found the intro letter and appliance instructions helpful. It’s wonderful to know that you felt safe as a solo traveller. In addition to the deadbolts, only guests with a key card can access the building in the studios area, and we do security walks frequently to keep our guests as safe as possible. Thank you for your note about the bathroom lighting. It is by design that the lighting in the room is soft to promote a calming ambiance, but I understand how important good lighting can be, especially for makeup, so next time feel free to reach out to one of our house host and we will provide an extra bright lamp. I hope to welcome you back in the future and wish you many more safe and enjoyable travels! Take care, Steph

I spent 6 nights at Eden Locke and had a mixed experience. On the plus side, the staff were incredibly friendly, the location was excellent, the apartment was well-equipped, and the room was pleasant. However, there were several downsides. The bed was rock hard and extremely uncomfortable, leading to many nights where I woke up because my arms went numb. The room's temperature was consistently too high, making the air feel stale and uncomfortable, one could open the window but it quickly got to cold and it was quite noisy. While I understand the extra charge for room cleaning, the floor became noticeably dusty within just a few days. Having access to a vacuum or basic cleaning tools would have made a significant difference in maintaining a cleaner environment during our stay.
I'm on the fence about returning for a longer stay.

Hi Sarasteg, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at Eden, I really appreciate it. I'm happy to read that you enjoyed the friendly service of our House Hosts, as well as our central location and our fully-equipped apartments. However, I'm sorry to see that you felt let down on other aspects - for this I can only apologise. Thank you for sharing your comments regarding the mattress - I will pass them on to our Housekeeping Manager for further investigation. Next time, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our House Hosts - sometimes the mattress just needs to be flipped, or occasionally just adding an extra topper is enough to make everything a bit more comfortable :) Our House Hosts are also happy to help if the room feels a bit too warm: an extra fan or one of our portable air-conditioning units can really make all the difference! Alternatively, I do recommend reaching out to us ahead of your next stay and we'll do our absolute best to make sure you're allocated to one of our cooler apartments :) As part of our efforts towards sustainability, we don't offer a daily housekeeping service, but we do schedule a weekly cleaning service for bookings of 7+ nights. However, our House Hosts are always happy to bring up fresh towels, refill the tea and coffee in the apartment and to provide, upon request, any cleaning tools that you might require. Do not hesitate to reach out to them next time! :) I do hope you’ll give us another chance in the future, Sara – it would be my pleasure to welcome you back :) Hope to see you again soon, Steph

Maybe my rating is a little too strict, but I can't share the enthusiasm.
Reservation / check-in: * Nice website, well done. A few days before the appointment, a mail arrives to check in, query guest data etc. if you arrive after 23:00, then please immediately say “Arriving after 11pm? Make sure you check in online so you dont get marked as a no-show.“. So everything paid in advance (despite Flexible). guest data transmitted (passport numbers etc), arrival time 23:30 communicated. By chat then again pointed out the late arrival time. what happens? On the day of arrival you are then called afternoon and asked if you would still come. Everything ready at check-in? Of course not, all transmitted data is not available. Also nochmal.
* Rooms: I don't need a room with kitchen, but ok. We had two rooms, with the kitchen/living area (if you want to call it that) going out to the backyard. What makes it very quiet, the bedroom is relatively dark with no windows inside the room. Bed comfortable. You can do it if you're permanently out anyway. I was not convinced by this, but was enough for two nights.
* Location: great. 1A. It doesn't get any better. George Street has many pubs, restaurants and you walk out of the hotel and have tons of options in every direction
* Breakfast: there is a café where you get 10% as a hotel guest. Totally random operation, qualitatively ok. Better eat somewhere else.
* Price: for what it offers, the price of 300€ a night was far too expensive, but here dynamic pricing strikes and a rugby game provided corresponding demand.

Stayed with our dog for 3 nights to visit all the Edinburgh sights and Christmas markets. Eden Locke was the perfect place to stay. We were made extremely welcome (including our dog), we checked in online so were able to go straight to our room and were also given vouchers for a complimentary hot drink in the cafe. The room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped including dog bowls and a basket with treats, a ball and bandana for our pooch. The toiletries provided are fabulous. This is a great place to stay in Edinburgh and will definitely return.

The location was easy to find and close to the last stop for the AirTans bus. Although located close to a number of attractions it was very quiet.
The apartment layout was cleverly designed to maximize the space. If you wanted to cook, they provided a variety of cookware, both a microwave and regular oven. There was also a tiny washer and dryer included in the apartment. If you didn't want to cook there were plenty of restaurants in the area, and a few items for sale in the lobby (sandwiches, pastries, and beverages including cocktails).
Staff were very helpful-I arrived rather jet lagged and several hours before check in The staff noticed and graciously gave my a room key as soon as a room was cleaned so that I could rest.
I really appreciated the numerous USB ports for charging my electronic devices. I carry a power strip and adaptor with me but didn't have to use it once thanks to the numerous USB ports in the living room and bedroom.
I stayed seven nights and would stay there again if I'm ever in Edinburgh.

What a gem! Intelligently designed apartments with some most welcome touches that set Eden Locke apart. Well equipped kitchenette featured responsibly sourced teas and fresh milk awaiting. Stylish bathroom products, comfortable bed, and opening windows. A white noise machine and earplugs were not needed but welcome for light sleepers.
Staff are outstanding and the cafe downstairs well used by locals and visitors alike. Great location.

Hotel is located perfectly on George Street in New Town. Only few minutes walk and You already see the first sight of Edinburgh Castle. Plenty of nice restaurants on the same street if You have no time or interest to cook in your apartment.
It’s very easy to access the whole city from that location. If You like to walk and see everything on the way to sightsee spots, there’s no need to use public transport at all. That way you might also see some interesting places and things that you didn't even know to exist. And meet a lot of nice and friendly people - locals and other tourists. Only place I visited by bus (and partly only) was The Royal Yacht.
Hotel and staff: The hotel itself is very beautiful, practical and clean and hotel staff very friendly. The café downstairs is perfect starting point of the day, also for vegeterian.
Apartment number 104: One bedroom open plan suite. Windows to inner court.
There's fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. Also washing machine with dryer option.
Excellent bathroom! Practical, no leaks from shower corner to the other parts of bathroom, excellent water pressure. Perfect!
Perfect sleeping quality. Quiet apartment with comfortable bed and pillows. You can use tick curtain between living room and bedroom to make the bedroom even more quiet. Double curtains in windows. Others let light coming trough other block the light totally. and keep You in darkness.
Totally warm and dry apartment. No need for any warm clothes, not even woolen stockings.
I definitely recommend this hotel and would like to stay there again!

Hi Pekasu, Wow ! Thank you so so much for leaving us your detailed review. You made my day with your beautiful words about Eden! I agree, our location is truly brilliant, right on the door steps to some of Edinburgh's best bars, clubs, restaurants and some of the most popular visitor attractions. Our apartments are something that certainly sets us apart with each one of them having great little kitchenettes and stylish separated living, cooking and sleeping areas to make your time away from home as pleasant and care-free as possible. I'm very glad that your bed was comfortable, that you found the bathroom practical and that your room had all the extra facilities :) Plus I can't love more the title you gave to this review, we really want our guests to feel at home while staying with us. I'm very happy to read as well your observation about our staff. They're all a super welcoming bunch and it's fab you noticed :) I've shared your feedback with the team and with our amazing partners Mayvn, who run the Café. They are all super happy about your lovely comments. Can't wait to see you again. Best wishes, Steph and the Eden Locke Team

There are a couple of food stores within walking distance, including the one mentioned in the preceding post. I have no idea about delivery. My advice would be to treat yourself to breakfast in the ground floor cafe the first morning. Take the opportunity to get acquainted with the staff and use your grocery shopping trip as an opportunity to get to know the neighbourhood.
They are one in the same hotel. It is referred to as Eden Locke. And as far as securing a higher floor, you could always ask. We were lucky to be placed in the top floor but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

The rooms does not have AC, but the weather there does not require it. I was there when they had a heat wave and we used the fan that was in the room and was more than adquate.
There are more places to choose from in the Edinburgh area.
