This was a great place to stay! Our room was big, high ceilings, great view, clean and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and spacious! The staff was very friendly! They helped point out good places to eat or where to go to sight see or order a taxi for us. The location of the hotel could not be better. Right in the old town of Edinburgh. Only a 5 minute walk from the train station. If you are coming from the train station be prepared for a lot of stairs. We would definitely book here again, without question! …
Loved this hotel. Just around the corner from the Royal Mile. We turned in our rental car upon arriving in Edinburgh and were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone! We travelled through the UK for 19 days, and this is the first hotel with no complaints!!…
I literally could not go into the reception area with the cloud of perfume air "freshener". I was very concerned about the chemicals they used on the sheets and towels but it wasn't bad. I had to let the towels and sheets air out. Housekeeping is weak but the location of this place makes it worth the feeling that your room is slightly neglected. We were down to 1/4 roll of toilet paper even though there was a toilet paper holder that would have kept 5 rolls. Our last evening we came back to bundle up for a late night walking tour and found our room flooded from the floor above! They didn't have another room so we listed to several drips that were being caught in towels and a bucket in the kitchen area. It blew out our electricity so none of us could charge our phones or computers for the next day which was a travel back to London on the train day. We couldn't use the blow dryer, coffee pot etc. We still have not gotten a good answer on what will be done with our bill for that last night since we paid it all ahead of time. The front desk suggested they take 25% off our last nights bill! She obviously has never listened to dripping all night, sloshed through water to get anywhere in our room, went out in the cold with wet hair and dead phones. NOT the way to conduct a wanting to be 5 star hotel. Up until the disaster, we were satisfied with our accommodations.…
Located in the very centre of the Old Town of Edinburgh, the Fraser Suites are first class. Beautifully fitted out rooms in keeping with the local environment. Lovely caring staff at the front reception. (Well done...a kind word and a genuine smile makes all the difference to weary travellers!) Facilities in the rooms to enable you to purchase your own fruit, yoghurt, muesli, milk and juice from a supermarket "down the hill" and eat comfortably in your room...if you so desire. Soft thick quality towels. And an added bonus! The Hotel provides free access to washing machines and dryers on the 1st floor AND provides conplimentary washing powder on request! How good is that! We were halfway through our overseas travel trip and what a bonus to be able to freshen up all our clothes! A 5 star experience all round. …
The clue is in the name The Fraser SUITES. No need to panic though as the difference actually worked well for us. What's the difference? No room service, housekeeping by demand, No replenishment of toiletries except when asked for (even if you leave the empties!). On minor point is that we reported a stain on the kitchen laminate when we arrived. Four days later when we left the stain was still there and the room had not been hoovered once. The massive upside is that the suite we had (4th floor) had a small kitchen, large bedroom and associated relaxation area. Also, on site was a small but well-equipped gym, washing and drying facilities include complementary eco-friendly washing powder. There is also an ice machine in the basement. Reception are more than happy to recommend take away services (there is a sheet in reception) however just use your favourite online service and have the food delivered. The kitchen is equipped with plates etc. so you can have a meal in your room. Location is excellent for the Royal Mile and all the old town attractions - this almost certainly drives the room rate. We travelled by train and this worked well - Waverley is less than half a mile away (half of that being vertical!). Princes Street is just across the valley - 10 mins walk at most. Would we recommend this establishment? Yes, for a first time visit and if budget allows. We would probably look for somewhere in the new town next time. Nothing wrong with the Fraser Suites, just we have done everything on this side and could save a lot of walking by staying on the Princes Street side next time.…
