Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a really great place to stay. Located about ten minutes outside of the centre of Edinburgh (it’s a lovely stroll before the city’s inevitable carnage, plus you go past a lot of nice restaurants and bars). The owners were fantastic, they were very friendly and accommodating. They saved us a parking space on our arrival, showed us around our room and even got us a card and some chocolates (as we were staying for our anniversary). After this we rarely saw them - you could come and go as you wanted and they always cleaned the rooms whilst we were out. We loved this and found it to be a very relaxing experience. No complaints about the room - very comfortable and nicely decorated. Whilst it had everything you could want. There was even a continental breakfast that was regularly topped up including crepes and waffles which were amazing!

Upon booking I was not aware of the stairs and no ground floor rooms, so be aware if mobility is an issue. Lovely service, nothing was too much trouble, very friendly and welcoming. No cooked breakfast due to covid, however they did provide us with pastries, fruit, cereal bars, water and orange juice. The bathroom was far far too small, couldn't move around in there at all. The room had a little dust around the edges, but everything else was perfectly clean and fine. Perfect for a night or 2, beds were comfy and the the b&b has a nice chilled frieny atmosphere.

Car Park, Only enough room for 3 cars Hall way, the carpet needs cleaning Bedroom, we had a room on the front and it was hot. We couldn't have the windows open because of the noise from the road. The mattress are very uncomfortable and the toilet didn't flush

Response from Blossom Guesthouse, General Manager at Blossom House
Responded 11 Jun 2021
Dear Darren, I am sorry you did not enjoy your very brief stay with us. Indeed our car park is small and takes only FIVE cars. It is also FREE. You did not pay for it. Furthermore, as we did not have any other cars in, that night you were able to park your VAN without any difficulty. I suspect your lack of sleep was more to do with your 5 am departure than lack of comfort in the room. You checked in at lunchtime. If you found the room, not to your satisfaction you could have informed us and we would have given you a different room. Alternatively, you could have swapped rooms with your son who also was given a family room at no extra charge.

Came out to Edinburgh for the weekend and thought blossom guesthouse looked like a quaint place to stay. I was wrong. From the moment I stepped through the door, a foul odor hit me like a brick. Absolutely disgusting state of cleanliness. Looked nothing like the pictures. But the real kicker was the owners who put me in a different room than the one I had booked, then tried charging me double the price. When I asked them about this confusion, they insulted me and my family, and threatened to call the police. I have never seen a customer treated in such an abhorrent way. For your sake and that of your family, I advise everyone to stay away.

Response from Blossom Guesthouse, General Manager at Blossom House
Responded 17 Sept 2020
Dear Sir, This review was initially posted on Hostelworld through which you booked. They have since removed it as it is clearly full of lies. Firstly you booked a single room but brought, I quote 'your family' with you. Hence you were given a double room and asked to pay for a double. I have both your original booking and your card statements showing you are economical with the truth. Furthermore if we had really 'insulted and threatened' you and you genuinally found the place 'disgusting' I doubt you would have stayed for two nights, especially since there were vacancies not only next door but across the road from us. In future I recommend that when you are taking your family away for the weekend you book a family room, not a single room to avoid being upset.

Me and my partner visited Edinburgh at the end of Novemeber for 2 nights. The staff were really friendly and helpful with parking our car. The family ensuite was lovely and very clean and spacious. 20 minute walk to the centre with great shops on the way. We loved our stay that much that we are planning another visit in the new year :) We would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you Christina & Nathan (FROM SHEFFIELD)

The host was so friendly and helpful, lovely family feel to that place. We had a double room with en suite, got a free upgrade to a room with a double bed and single bed. The room was clean. Comfy enough beds and sheets. Heating was easily adjusted at radiator in the room. Continental breakfast was lovely and plentiful, even had boiled eggs which is the first I've seen in a continental breakfast, so was very pleased. Our only issues, which were very slight and didn't effect our stay, were that the TV was very small and in an odd position without an adjustable wall bracket so we couldn't see it properly from either of the beds, also the shower was extremely loud when on, I assume it's the motor maintaining the water pressure as we were on the top floor. The stairs were quite steep and no lift option so definitely worth noting for guests with lower mobility. Overall a wonderful stay, nice and close to the city surrounded by wonderful restaurants. Would definitely stay here again next time we come to Edinburgh!

Just back home after spending two nights at the Blossom B&B. We have stayed in several B&B’s in Edinburgh and have to say this is up there with the best...if not THE best. It is great value for money, the room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. There is parking and a bus stop across the road. The bus into Princes Street takes seven minutes with one every five minutes. It’s a Continental breakfast with various cereal, boiled eggs, toast, fruit, hot scones, yogurt etc. The owners were extremely friendly and gave the impression nothing was too much trouble for them. To summarise.. clean, comfortable, friendly B&B and GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip back to the best capital in the world.
