Room was absolutely lovely. Not the biggest, but what do you need? Surely you dont go on holiday to sit in your room all day! There was some fruit in the room, including a carved kiwi fruit, which we were bit unsure what to do with. It looked a bit dry after our two days and we're still not sure what the purpose of this was. However, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the room and en-suite was spotless. Friendly staff and very close to the city centre. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your kind review! We’re so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the room comfortable, spotless and well-located for exploring the city. We appreciate your feedback about the fruit in the room, especially the kiwi! It’s intended as a small welcome touch, but we understand it may have been a bit unexpected. We’ll certainly take this into consideration for the future. It’s wonderful to know you would stay with us again—we’d love to welcome you back whenever you next visit Edinburgh! Safe travels, Chloe

Lovely hotel, just at the back of the St James’s Quarter, the hotel was very secure as key card required for access. Staff were very helpful and although we arrived early our room was ready so we got into the room. The room was very clean and the shower was very good, there was a powerful fan in the cupboard and plenty tea, coffee and milk; the only thing I was surprised about was that there was no pillow or mattress protectors on the beds.

Perfect! A few minutes walk from Princes Street, so very handy but very quiet. Room was spotless, on the back of the hotel so view was amazing, lovely cold very fresh buffet breakfast (which sadly I was the only one enjoying for some strange reason) and the staff were so helpful. The young lady who checked me in and out and was there for breakfast was so helpful and polite. Cross I didn't get her name. Also able to leave luggage there which was very helpful. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay again

This hotel was absolutely wonderful! I was expecting an average experience, but everything was perfect. The staff at reception were incredibly kind and helpful—they even assisted with storing my luggage before check-in, and gave great recommendations for restaurants and tours. The room was clean, comfortable, and the location couldn't have been better. The bus station is right in front, and there are both a bus and tram station just 3 minutes away for easy access to the airport. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return. Thank you!

What a great little hotel within walking distance of so many things to do in Edinburgh! We stayed there twice during our visit to Scotland and enjoyed both visits (in the same room!) very much. The staff was always very helpful and enthusiastic about our questions and various requests. We had a room with a lovely view to the north of the city, the bed was very comfortable after long days of walking up and down Edinburgh's hills, the bathroom was a good size (water pressure was strong and hot water was consistent), and having a drink in the bar was always a pleasant experience.
There are eight rooms in the hotel and the hotel's website provides information on the size of each room. Our room was cozy but we were fine with it -- we were spending time exploring the city and did not need additional space which a larger room might provide. There is no apparent spot in the old building to add a lift/elevator but the staff were ready to carry our luggage up or down the stairs when we needed a little help.
In sum, 28 York Place is a hotel at which we would stay again, given the excellent staff, accomodations, and location.

It's conveniently located right across from main bus station, and within walking distance to all central attractions. But what makes it truly worth it is the genuinely amazing hospitality! We've been waited at midnight and checked in with the most infectious smile! The room was absolutely amazing, spotless clean and we had the most comfortable sleep. Couldn't hear a noise, considering our room was right on Main Street, blackout curtains perfect, and coffee facilities made me enjoy a good coffee before setting off. We didn't have breakfast, too early for me to eat, but I can assure you the same quality was throughout whole property! Please do visit, it's a lovely hidden gem in Edinburgh! I've stayed in so many places.. this will absolutely be added to my favourite ever! x

Immaculate clean and fresh room bedding and towels. Full size hand wash hand cream shower gel shampoo and conditioner provided. Iron hair dryer tower fan and tea and coffee making facilities. Cannot fault the room for high standards of cleanliness and comfort. Location is right opposite the bus station and 5 minutes from the train station with trams and buses outside. Only downside would be there us no lift which may be a problem for those with mobility issues. I would definitely stay here again.

My brother and I stayed here on our one day stopover in Edinburgh. This hotel was great! The room was surprisingly spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The location of this place is perfect for someone who wants to see the sights and be centrally located. We took a bus to get to Edinburgh from Glasgow and the hotel was an extremely short walk from the bus station.

The hotel has a brilliant location, just a couple mins walk to the bus station. The staff were very accommodating when we had to change our travel plans and extend our stay by one night at short notice. The room we originally booked was very clean and had an excellent view but was on the smaller side. The room we were given for our final night was the standard double which felt larger and brighter. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would return.

This is a truly lovely place to stay and there were genuinely no downsides at all. From the proximity to the tram stop to the friendly, ever helpful staff, it was very pleasant indeed. The welcome was warm and genuine in a really nice bar area. We stayed in the Linlithgow room, at the back of the hotel. It was not the biggest room but was beautifully decorated and appointed with wonderful high ceilings with pretty coving. The en-suite was warm with a bug bath and brilliant shower. Nice toiletries also. The view out across Edinburgh to the Furth of Forth and Fife was a perfect backdrop. The bed was super comfy and we had a great sleep. Breakfast was pretty ordered the night before and was super high quality and at a very reasonable cost. Overall a great stay and look forward to returning. Thanks.
