Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have stayed in quite a few Travelodges over the years but the staff in this particular Travelodge were outstanding. The hotel was clean tidy and exceptionally quiet to say it was in the centre of Edinburgh. We will definitely be going again.

Recently stayed at this hotel whilst we had a visit to Edinburgh. Check in was easy and quick even through it was evening time. Went up to room, we had a family room Double and 2 single beds, our daughter put them together to made a double too. Room was clean and very large. Beds were very comfortable and pillows too. Bathroom was clean and basic as you would expect, only negative bathroom could do with a towel radiator or some kind of heater as with the large obscured window this room loses heat and we found it cold in the winter getting out of a warm shower. you got lots of Bars with music each night in the near vicinity but you couldn't hear them in the room. Wetherspoons and Greggs close by for breakfast too if you don't want to venture too far for breakfast. This Hotel is situated just behind Princes St so is ideally placed for exploring the New Town and only a quick walk to the Old Town and Castle. Would we stay again here yes we would .

The location was very good. We found the staff helpful and polite. The room was very run down in areas, and the carpet seemed dirty and like it hadn't been hoovered in a while. The bed linen was very clean though, so it wasn't the end of the world, and ultimately it's a Travelodge so you're paying for a (mostly) clean and safe place to sleep and it ticked those boxes. Have stayed in much worse.

The room was small, dark, and smelly. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were stained. The bathroom was filthy and the shower barely worked. The worst part was the lift. It was dirty and dangerous. It made loud noises and shook violently. It felt like it was going to break down any second. I was terrified every time I had to use it. I don't know how this hotel passed any safety inspection. It was a nightmare. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away from this place!

Tucked away in the middle of Edinburgh, a lovely hideaway in the midst of all the hustle and bustle. Lovely and clean and reasonably priced for a cheeky weekend away. Once you’re checked in you can nip next door for a pint and something to eat!
