The location was good but it could be cleaner. The rooms looked old and dirty. There were stains that made the bedroom look not clean. The breakfast was delicious and the check in staff was very polite.

The reception staff were chatty and fun and didn't even bat an eye when my friend, in answer to ' do you want to book breakfast or have you booked? answered 'yes' amongst other things... The Room - Very nice! Cosy, warm and perfect lamps for reading in bed. The view was at the...

Hotel in great location very close to the city centre. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.. Only thing that could be improved was the grouting and sealant in the shower. Several areas of black mould in evidence which was not very hygienic.

Central to all bus and tram/train links, very close to The Royal Mile, 2 min walk through back of the hotel. Breakfast was well worth booking at the discounted rate the day before - very tasty. Staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Overall great experience.Hotel located just 5 min walking distance from Wavearly Station so great airport connection.Hotel staff very helpful and friendly.Hotel tidy and clean. The one thing there were three people staying in the room and there were only two sets of towels available.Plus hotel does not supply first aid. There are boots and pharmacies near by but late in the evening...

Hotel ideal for Waverley station. Our room at the road suffered from noise from the station and beer delivery. Fluff hanging from the ceiling. Room should have been cleaner. Breakfast could have been better for the price.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
