Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had stayed here previously when it was Jurys Inn, but wow what a difference since it has become Leonard's....for the better. Complete transformation in every aspect. The rooms are Boutique style with everything that you require. The Dining room and Bar area are tastefully decorated. Fantastic bartender Sullivan looked after us on the afternoon of check in with complimentary drinks authorised by the manager as our room wasn't quite ready (we arrived early by the way, so a lovely gesture on the managers part) The Manager (Female...sorry didn't catch her name) was so attentive in every way. She is an absolute credit to the Leonard's group along with all of her team. All in all a most enjoyable stay from start to finish.

The room was okay and the staff at the front day are nice and polite, however the staff in the restaurant are a bit slow with serving your food and drinks. There is building work directly opposite of the hotel which wasn't very nice to hear or see when looking out the window. It's in reasonable distance of the town and is in easy access to train, tram and bus stops. The room cleanness was okay but for an executive room we expected better, especially with the clean cups and refills of the water bottles as the water bottle weren't refilled and we had to go down to get clean cups and even had to ask the cleaners to refill our teas and coffee supplies as they weren't refilled either. Due to these few issues, I unfortunately won't be returning back to this hotel. It was a nice enough hotel stay for just a few nights away as we was out every day and didn't spend much time in the hotel. Food was nice in the hotel.

Best stay here. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and every one of them was so polite. Food was fantastic that we actually ate breakfast and tea here every night as much less busy then trying to find something in the centre and meant we could go back eat and continue our activities. Asked for some extras in our room so I could propose to my now fiancé and everything was done and looked amazing. Lovely hotel but the staff really make the place.

Leonardo Royal Hotel If your thinking of heading to Edinburgh and are looking for a friendly hotel in a great location to all the sites then let me recommend the Leonardo Royal Hotel. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station. We arrived on monday afternoon and entered the hotel. At reception we were given a lovely welcome before being given all the information we needed about the hotel. Our room was an Executive Double plus single room on the sixth floor and was kept clean and stocked by the friendly hotel cleaners. This gave us great views overlooking Waverley station as well as princess street. Unfortunately we only used the hotel for breakfast which had everything you could wish for (ie. Tea and Coffee , juices , cereal , meats , cakes , pastries and all the ingredients you need to create your own style of a full english breakfast including haggis.) You will also be made very welcome by every member of staff who are all so friendly and can also offer any advice required for your visit to this wonderful city. As I said the hotel is in a fabulous location and between 10 - 15 minutes walk from most of the landmarks including Edinburgh Castle , Calton Hill , Royal Mile , Princess Street Scottish Parliament Building and the National Museum of Scotland. Buses and trams are also close by meaning you can also visit the lovely town of Leith. This was our first visit to Edinburgh and I’m pretty sure it won’t be our last. I also think that when we do return there’s a strong chance we will once again choose the Leonardo Royal Hotel.

Food was great. Service was fantastic and Jordan was very professional, attentive and very welcoming, he was happy and chatty but not over the top. Would definitely come back again to stay and also eat at the hotel. Can't fault the service one bit.

Terrible, beds were rock hard, towels smelt disgusting, stain on carpets everywhere, hardly had any food in the restaurant and took ages to get served so gave up. We actually left 2 days early as couldn't stay there no more, terrible hotel, never again

I stayed in this hotel with a friend for 2 nights 2nd to 4th Feb. Both mornings we had no hot water. On the first morning we complained to reception and was told they were working on it and hoped to have it fixed. However day two still no hot water. Not ideal to stay in a room for €200 a night and no shower. Also on the Saturday construction work on adjoining building just outside our window started at 7am. A heads up on checkin would have been appreciated!

Where do I start!? This is a wonderful hotel with a very attentive staff, nothing was to much trouble. It was my wife's birthday during the stay and we arrived in our room to find they had provided a selection of very nice cakes and a bottle of wine, along with a birthday card. The room was so clean, comfortable and spacious with a coffee pod machine, kettle and plenty of tea choices. At breakfast we were greeted with a smile and was a buffet style with a variety of hot food, cereals, toast, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee's and juices. We hope to visit Edinburgh again soon and will definitely be booking back into this hotel. Highly recommended.

Have stayed here quite a few times over the years, never disappointed. Check in seamless with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, room very nice with a good view over Waverley and the city. Room clean and well maintained. All the staff I encountered over the trip were very friendly and efficient. Special mention must be made of Kym who runs the breakfast service, she is an absolute superstar and a credit to the hotel. Liking the new gym facilities as well. Would have no hesitation staying here again.

A last minute stay due to all trains being cancelled so wanted a hotel close to Waverley Station. The receptionist not too attentive but very professional and the check-in process quick and simple. The room even though an accessible one was lovely with a large comfy bed, desk, coffee machine with 4 complimentary pods. Had one of the best sleeps in a long time and the pillars spot on (would have taken them home with me but bag not big enough) The breakfast following morning was self service, met by a lovely Guest Liasion (Kym) who made me feel at home and took the time to speak to me as a lone traveller. Food lovely with plenty of choice - hot, continental, cerals, pastries etc. Defiantly stay here again
