Arrived with my two children for a wedding we had in morning, apon arrival we quickly noticed repaired and maintence on the hotel which wasn’t advertised on website. Anyways entered hotel reception were lovely and headed upto our room. 30 secs later our bags were straight out and back to reception. The stench of our room with chemicals, fumes smelt like petrol there was no way my children could sleep in that. Reception quickly sorted us another room which was great and asked if we would like a quiet part of hotel ( which was great 2 children with additional needs with me ) we were in room 133 next, room was ok bathroom was stinking of damp and dirty bath but we can deal with that. As the night went along it got to about 10pm and my children had already been woken with noise 3 times, from inside hotel doors slamming, traffic noise, shouting in and out hotel, paper thin walls and windows it was absolutely terrible! We actually called reception it was so bad, they couldn’t move or do anything due to capacity and apologised it wasn’t their fault which is fine. We started to look for another hotel at 11pm at this rate but decided to just try get on with it. We had a wedding to we awake for 6am, breakfast was average poor quality hot food but a very wide selection of others. No managers around to talk to like advised on call night next, none again when we left at 8am on checkout ( we had a late checkout planned but ended up not needing it but was told non refundable now ) waited a further 2 days for the manager to call and still NOTHING. I was told on the phone the late checkout could be refunded since we left so early but again told it couldn’t be so don’t think that’s likely. I can hand on heart say this is the worst hotel experience we have ever had, defo not a restful night at all. 2 shattered kids and managers who didn’t care.

This hotel was perfectly situated for discovering Edinburgh. Close to everything you need. Right in the old part of town close to the castle etc but only a short walk to the newer part of town with shopping centres and links to transport. Clean and tidy, friendly staff , great breakfast great value for money. Would highly recommend !

Pretty annoyed. Booked our holiday in August 2023 only to be told yesterday, 2 weeks before we arrive, that breakfast is now not available due to refurbishments. This is a surprise birthday trip. I have used Travelodge in the past but will think twice next time. Insultingly, we will receive our discount 10 days after our departure date. How can you treat past customers like this. Not happy at all............

This was an impromptu holiday with child. We took the Caledonian Sleeper from London; 2 days in Edinburgh. The Travelodge is conveniently located and a good place to stay with children. We had no issues; breakfast was great.

Our room was well sized, warm, clean and quiet. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the food was of good quality and varied in choice. The travelodge was in a great location close to all activities and amenities.

Good value for money and a perfect location if you want to be near the Royal Mile. Room was clean and comfortable. There is a lift to floors 1 to 4 but not floor 5, so worth considering if stairs are an issue.

We have stayed at this Travelodge before, as it is centrally located within the older part of Edinburgh. Our room was spotless, and had clearly just been re-painted and re-carpeted. Had a great view over to Arthur’s Seat. We chose to eat in the cafe/bistro on the ground floor, as the weather wasn’t great, but to be honest we were both disappointed with the food. It appeared to have been reheated (although mine was lukewarm warm at best) and the (oven) chips were pretty dry and tasteless. Breakfast was exactly what you would expect, and set us up well for the day ahead. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again, but won’t be eating here, unless there is a freshly-cooked food option.
