Overall a comfortable room and friendly staff, breakfast and coffee was a delight! However while staying there for 4 days, the cleanliness of the room each day wasn't great. Another disappointment was that I prepaid for wifi for a week and I had a room for three, however it wasn't mentioned that the payment for wifi would be for one...

Family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids, booked 4 months ago to get great price, £50 a night including breakfast, so £12.50 pppn. Great value for central location and only 10 minute walk from waverly train station, where again the train was great value and much cheaper than paying for fuel / parking....back to the hotel. Clean room, great nights...

Had another excellent stay at the Edinburgh Central Travelodge. This Travelodge is ideally located in Edinburgh for visiting bars and restaurants in the Royal Mile area. Room was clean and a good night sleep was provided. Helpful staff at check in.

This is a real gem in the heart of the city - excellent location, very reasonable prices, and above all, the staff were extremely helpful. In particularly, I loved that they offered that we leave our luggage with them after checking out so we could explore the city unencumbered before our train home.

Stayed here on a 3 night break in Edinburgh. The hotel is situated just off of the Royal Mile, ideal for exploring the city. We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the car park Was surprised how quiet the hotel was noise wise, even on a Saturday night. We are already planning a return visit and would have...

Great room, it was clean and comfortable. We were on the rear of the building and it was very quiet so I would stay here again! We stayed in a family room and it was perfect for us. The TV had good selection of channels and beds were comfortable. If I had to state a downside the only thing really...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
