Not a great stay, arrived earlier to leave bags and our rooms weren't as I had booked we then got this sorted left to enjoy our day returned to check in later and the rooms had changed yet again, we originally had rooms sleeping two people and then had rooms sleeping four. Not one room was as booked months ago,...

Stayed in this travelodge this weekend with friends all in all it is what it is, good value no frills. Room was quite cramped and the pull out bed not very comfortable in comparison to the double bed which was really nice, it was clean maybe a little rough around the edges but good value for money. Very little noise...

cheap room, decent location. My room was rough around the edges, but very comfy bed. Don't bother with breakfast, there are better and cheaper around the hotel. Also putting the do not disturb on the door doesn't stop them entering and making your room up.

Much quieter than expected after being warned in Travelodge's description. Due to 5 layers of air in glazing! Basically it was what I expected from a Travelodge. No frills but all that was on offer was excellent

Great budget hotel right in the City. Clean comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Great value for money. 2 minutes from the high street / Royal mile. Hop on hop off buses close by. Lots of good breakfast places within 5 minutes - loads of excellent restaurants within 50-15 minutes.

I came at last minute notice as I had been let down by another hotel. Staffs were so friendly and even suggested I should book online to save money and let me use her phone! Food is available till 10 PM. It is of decent quality but not their main asset although bar staff were very friendly too. The room...

This is a great hotel if you're spending a night or two right in the centre of Edinburgh, as long as you get it for the right price. We were going to a gig in Cowgate and this was very handy, being right on the doorstep with plenty restaurants and pubs close by. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly,...

Stayed here in a family room- 1 double bed and 1 single- on a quick trip to see family. Room was warm, clean, double bed comfortable, plenty of hot water in the morning, and really, really helpful staff. I booked this place because it was an Old Town location and, booking ahead, very reasonable, and I would stay again if...

We needed to stay last minute in Edinburgh, this was the most reasonable priced property we found for a bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the 3rd Party Supplier was not able to booked a room for us as the number on file was wrong – we opted to walk to the property but the rate provided was higher to the one...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
