We had a suite for 1 night in this hotel very spacious and great views of the city looking out on to the royal mile. Very prompt, informative and friendly staff. Immaculately clean hotel including our room. Very comfortable bed and room had no noise issues from other quests or street which is surprising for such a central location. Location...

I stayed here on business for a single night and was impressed with all the aspects of the hotel that I encountered. The staff were all professional, polite and well presented and the room was clean and modern. It was also well lit which is a rarity in these days of dreary `save the planet` light bulbs. The bed deserves...

Booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my husband. Not the first visit at this property, certainly not the last. From the moment I made the booking to when we left the hotel, everything was perfect. First, I phoned up not long after I booked on line to pre pay for the room, as I know how cheeky my...

Arriving by rail this place is simple to get to. Exit station onto Market Street side and turn left. Keep going then turn right up a back street called Carrubbers Close. This brings you out opposite the front doors of the hotel. Check in was a breeze. What I particularly liked was that rather than one long desk they have...

This hotel is slick, new and well appointed, right in the middle of the action. The staff is attentive, the rooms spacious and clean, and everything in the spa was amazing. (I especially enjoyed the steam room after a really long day of travel). Walking distance from the new prams, you can't beat the value.

The Radisson Blu is very centrally located and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, my room was quite dark, as my window looked out onto a wall, so I was a bit disappointed with the lack of sun, but otherwise the room was fine. I left my camera in the safe, and they sent it to me right away by post...

I went with my family this month First of all the location, the location was perfect, in the old city near st Gile's cathedral, the building was a beautiful and medieval one, the interior was comfortable and the bedrooms were perfect, the breakfast was not the best one, but it was good. This hotel is not a luxury one, is...

I had been looking forward to staying in this hotel which is in a very good location just down the road from Edinburgh castle. However, I was disappointed as my room wasn't particularly clean, with stains on the carpet and in the bathroom. The noise from the road outside was relentless during the night, mostly people who were out socialising...

What a lovely hotel, Staff very good couldn`t help enough. Only thing I wish the hotel would do is to compete on bar and food prices. Breakfast exceptional on amount of variety. On the royal mile itself so good and central for Castle visit and bus tours are only five minutes walk.

Quiet, clean, central, modern, friendly. Good wifi (and audio sockets for playing iPad music on the tv). Breakfast was OK, but the so-called potato scones were awful. And no kippers - what??? I'd happily stay there again.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
