Best cocktails in Edinburgh, even better service! Came in Sunday surprised how lovely it was inside. Old fashioned beautiful decor and dim lighting. Was served by a young man called Liam, he was excellent, recommending and making the best cocktails we have had in a while! He mentioned a new one opening in Glasgow so we will definitely be asking for him when we visit :)

Hotel's Favourite
Visited for husbands 30th birthday. The hotel itself is simply stunning no detail or expense has been spared. We booked the classic room and again decor is amazing. A far cry from the usual sterile style of hotels everything is chic and feels like you step back in time. Exceptional service from staff all extremely welcoming and friendly. We visited liliths lounge for cocktails all prepared to perfection. We opted for the treat me like im famous package, worth every penny. The small details make the house of gods a one off hotel. Will certainly rebook in the future.

Paid for the locked in Rockstar package and classic room and were really disappointed for the huge amount paid. Cons: -Rooms are tiny! There isn’t even a cupboard to hang up clothes or anywhere to store bags - you are constantly tripping over things in the dark! -Plastic flowers and horribly cheap plastic or petals did not live up the the decadent, luxury we had been sold -Presseco on tap was cheap and a real nice stomach stripper. - Very odd smell in corridors (like broccoli and cauliflower soup 🤢) -Mid night feast of milk, a big cookie, fruit pastels and skittles not really a ‘feast’ -Breakfast was a flask of hot water and one of coffee, cold bagels, OJ -Location at the bottom of a rubbish strewn, smashed glass street -No milk or sugar for coffee -Bathroom is so small- toilet/ wet room ( it’s so tiny that everything gets soaked! -Our room was very cold (they brought us a heater) -And here’s the worst … we met a lovely couple who had found a dodgy stain on their bed linen and had brought this to the hotels attention only to be told that they would tell the cleaners in the morning. They weren’t offered an alternative room or even clean bedding! 🤢🤢 Pros: -Bar is nice, if v small (you have to book!) -Cocktails very good- go off menu and ask for a rum cocktail and dark and stormy -Staff very nice All in all if you have money to burn, go for it but lower your expectations. If you want a treat, consider one of the other Edinburgh established hotels. I’ve stayed in better (and cleaner) Travelodges! Oh and I wouldn’t take a UV light!

Lock me up like a Rockstar: Room (classic) was a very small - too small for a 4-post bed, funky kinda smell like cruciferous vegatables in the dark and dingy hallways. Pizza was pretty good although a bit cold. Prosecco gave me terrible heartburn. Midnight feast was a giant cookie and milk, along with a selection of fruit pastilles, skittles and popcorn. Considering the cost, basic hotel amenities were a bit meh. Breakfast bagel was stone cold. Staff were lovely, cocktails were great. Met a lovely couple from Glasgow who showed us pictures of the questionable white stains they found on their bedding and were asked to 'inform the cleaners in the morning'. It wasn't awful. It was okay. But considering the cost per night, it was all very mid. Great marketing though.

Booked this trip as a Valentine's treat for wife and I, and from the moment we walked into our room – HUGE disappointment. Or should I say a TINY disappointment, as the room hardly had space to stand in. Pros: - Very friendly, welcoming service. - Attractive bar, moody and interesting - Decent location, near High St. but down a hill and on a trash-covered road with dumpsters everywhere. Cons: - Tiny, tiny room – absolutely no space for a suitcase, we ended up just having to walk over our bags, as there's no closet, one shelf, and minimal hanging space. - Extremely dark, claustrophobic, windowless rooms. Impossible to see anything, zero fresh air, feels almost like a sensory deprivation chamber. - Unbearable heat, not sure how they manage to keep rooms so hot in Edinburgh in February, but we turned the heat off the moment we walked in and flipped the AC to the highest setting, but still sweltering 6 hours later. Desk was able to provide us a fan, which helped, but ultimately took up space that we didn't have to spare. - The package we paid for.. god knows how much it cost, but all it came with was a glass of cheap prosecco, a box of chocolates, and fake plastic flower petals on the bed. - Horribly designed bathroom, toilet right in the doorway, tiny sink with one shelf, no extra toilet paper, and towels even have to be stored next to the bed as there's no room in the bathroom. No tub or even shower door, just a shower head that soaks the entire bathroom in minutes. And because there's no fan or window anywhere, the steam from a shower turns the whole room into a sauna. - Breakfast in bed... well, yeah - there's no chair or table so you have to eat in bed. It included watery drip coffee in a thermos, two cold bagel sandwiches, and two glasses of cheap orange juice. - Paper-thin walls, you can hear every footstep and every conversation from the hallway at all hours of the night. The "soundproof" tag is a pure lie. All in all, we felt the fake, plastic flower bouquet on the dresser was a good summary of the "House of Gods"... looks nice from afar, photographs well, but ultimately cheap, unimpressive, overpriced, and with an odd smell. The marketing suggests an indulgent, luxurious, all-inclusive experience, but clearly once the decor and marketing were wrapped up, minimal attention has been paid to the actual comfort for visitors. Thoughtless design, terrible temperature control, cheap, tacky decor, less-than-clean rooms, pitch-black windowless dungeons... I can't believe we spent nearly 500 pounds a night, when I've had better nights' sleep in hostels. Couldn't check out fast enough.

A lovely night with my husband. Our room was upgraded which was totally unexpected. Cosy room with thoughts to detail to saving space. Clean throughout. An issue with air conditioning was dealt with immediately. Cookie and milk bell is a must!

We have just returned from an overnight stay at this fabulous hotel and we are still talking about our experience . Everything from the decor to the drinks ( served by amazing staff ) was top drawer and it is truly a lovers' paradise . Alex in the Cocktail Bar is professional , charming and outstanding in his customer care . Africa and Kevin are also excellent and we shall definitely return . Unforgettable .

Not worth the money we paid. Not what I would call decadence. Small , dark, claustrophobic. room hadn’t been cleaned properly as I found a plastic container on floor . Overpowering smell of flowers in such a small space is too heavy . No window to open to breath . Air conditioner wasn’t working right compared to my own at home. Midnight feast was a few glasses with some skittles, popcorn and fruit pastilles with one big sized cookie, and two small, small glasses of milk . Not what I’d call a feast .Sat in bar until 9pm with another couple we met there . And was told we’d need to move by the Italian waitress serving drinks as the tables were booked for people coming in off the street for a drink . (Wait we were staying overnight paid a fortune guests, but we had to move). So us annd other couple ended up going back to our rooms cos bar very small annd no other seats available . All in all an experience . But for the £600 because I had the locked in package and a £50 bar tab and late check out which I still paid around £80 on top off on checking out . Just not worth the money . Best thing the gorgeous box of chocolates you receive. The Staff are lovely but defo not be back . Wasted money and overnight.

Being wanting to stay here since it opened and my boyfriend treated me to a surprise overnight stay here on my birthday. We had the treat my like I’m famous package (including room upgrade, free bottle of Prosecco, box of chocolates, a cocktail made in your room by a member of staff, £40 bar spend, breakfast hamper with mimosas and a late night snack with a massive cookie, milk and sweets) which was ✨AMAZING✨and a lovely add on to our stay. Staff could not have been nicer and the cocktails were amazing!🍸 Also as it was my birthday the staff had went all out to add balloons and a lovely card to our room which was greatly appreciated! Our room was absolutely stunning (but quite a bit smaller than pictured on website and socials) but not a major issue. My only complaint would be that the air conditioning didn’t work in our room which normally shouldn’t be an issue in February but the room does become very warm and stuffy without it 😰 However, we will definitely be back to the hotel! 💖

House of gods was very nice, we had the treat me like I'm famous package and we had dinner and breakfast included in this. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were very cool and nice. Only negative points I have is the parking that hotel suggested in ncp had dirty used needles inside so this wasn't pleasant for us on our way not the hotels fault but just as it was recommended from them. Pillows were a bit hard for me and the rooms need windows it was very stuffy and when we requested a fan it was still not great. Room did have air conditioning but this didn't do much at all. Overall was a nice stay and a different experience.
