We booked this hotel knowing that it would be very small & basic - Which we had no problem with, & read into/did our research before we booked. Upon arrival we were very pleased with our room, as it appears a described on the website. We expected the small size, which you must read into before booking, but it had everything we needed just for a couple of nights. After our first day in town, we got back approx. 8pm the first night & once we had fallen asleep, we were woken up by the TV in the room next to us almost instantly. We initially thought they just had it too loud, but we heard people walking in the corridor, people text messages going off & just people talking at normal volumes in their rooms. This also wasn't just the room next to us, we also heard the rooms opposite across the corridor. The soundproofing was absolutely appalling, we could hear peoples conversations clearly in every direction & could not sleep. We booked the hotel knowing it was budget & small but ALL we intended to do was to sleep, & we couldn't. We eventually fell asleep once everyone had settled around 2am but both continued to be disturbed consistently through night by the smallest of sounds (e.g. peoples messages coming through on their phone). We explained this to reception in the morning where the lady was extremely understanding & kindly moved us to a room where we were next to only 1 other person - she also provided us with ear plugs (which really should be provided as a bear minimum to every room in future). Although this helped a little bit the 2nd night, we were still repeatedly interrupted in the night. Annoyingly, we could hear the neighbour's toilet flushing every time, & the shower in the morning as their bathroom "box" was in our room. In addition, there is a green safety light in the room which was extremely bright in this 2nd room. The first room had one & it was noticeable, but the 2nd room's was considerably brighter & added to the problem of trying to sleep again. We fully understood when booking that this was a budget hotel (because of the size & basicness of the room), but to not be able to sleep is not acceptable. My partner has stayed in other easy hotels before which were great, this is another reason we trusted the chain & booked. The room may as well have been advertised as a shared room as it is not AT ALL private. Our holiday was massively effected as we had such little & poor sleep, we didn't make the most of our stay. Unfortunately, both if us have had far better night sleeps in a £10 a night hostel. I am only inclined to give a 1 star because the lady on reception for those 3 days was so kind and as accommodating as she could be. I filled out a survey review requesting that the hotel get in touch for & I requested a refund but have unfortunately heard nothing back.

No issue with the small room or lack of window as was expected. However very poor sound proofing as woken up and kept awake by a frisky couple within what seemed like 2 feet away... so ear plugs a good idea. Then to top it all got bitten by bed bugs which needs to be fixed.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We are sorry to hear your stay with us wasn't satisfactory. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the issues that you experienced during your stay. I can assure you that our team is working hard every day on improving our standards and services based on our guest’s opinions to make sure we can meet all expectations. We are actively looking into options that could improve the soundproofing at the hotel. We are working very hard on maintenance every day and are now in the process of interior renovation. We are very excited about all the changes and can't wait for our guests to see them. We aim to provide a high standard of cleanliness. We wish you had provided us with more details regarding the cleanliness of the room as this is a priority issue for us and we always make sure that the accommodation we offer is spotlessly clean. It is extremely surprising that you never mention the bed bugs problem with any member of the staff during your stay. Every room is deep cleaned before new arrival by our housekeeping team. We have not received feedback about the issue from the cleaners or other customers. In order to fix issues, we must be provided with feedback on time. If you wanted to complain, we would want to take action to verify and sort your complaint as soon as possible. It is essential to contact us immediately if any problem arises so that it can be sorted out as quickly as possible. It is often extremely difficult (and sometimes impossible) to sort out difficulties properly unless we are told promptly. We deeply regret that you never mentioned any above while staying with us. Thank you again for your time, and our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kind Regards, easyHotel Edinburgh Team

Never did I ever think I’d stay in a “hotel” that was a box. Where to start…. Perhaps the fact that I could sit on the toilet AND shower at the same time. Or the fact that I could have been anywhere in my 6x4 cell. Two people have to operate a one in one out system. One sits on the bed if the other needs to get in the “toilet cupboard”. £5 to leave two bags before the 3pm check in, with a 10am check out, so another £5 to leave them the next day also. Disgusting!! Rude staff. Tiny rooms, far too much noise on the night. Completely ruined what was meant to be a great weekend away. Bedding was clean but literally the only ok thing about this so called hotel. Don’t bother wasting money to stay here. Pay the extra and book somewhere at least with a window!!

Hello, easyHotel Edinburgh is disappointed that we were unable to provide you with an easy stay. We are disappointed that you found our room size to be small. easyHotel Edinburgh is a budget hotel that offers space-efficient rooms, designed to meet basic needs. We have tried to maximize the space to provide the most competitive price in the heart of the city center. Our offer is directed to the specific type of travelers who are looking for affordable accommodation in the great location wanting to explore the city rather than staying in the hotel. We are a super budget hotel offering simple value and basic facilities which may not be suitable for everybody. This is why the detailed information regarding room sizes and facilities can be found online, where it can be seen before making a booking. It is the Guest who chooses a certain type of room (with window, windowless or standard). There is also an option to upgrade the room (if available) when the room booked does not meet the Guest's expectations. Facilities such as TV, Wi-Fi or Luggage Storage are accessible at any point and can be added to your stay for a small fee. Of course, these are optional extras and guests can choose to pay only for what they use, which makes the most effective cost savings. We aim to train all our staff to provide excellent customer service, therefore, we are sorry you found them to lack it. We will investigate this matter and provide any training we find necessary to prevent this situation from happening again in the future. We understand that our concept is not for everybody this is why we place such importance on reading all the information together with house rules as check-out time as opposed to checking only the location and price. Thank you again for your time, and our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Best regards, easyHotel Edinburgh Team

If you need a room that just a room to sleep and wash in, then it’s perfect. It is in a very accessible location and was clean. It’s very very basic, so if you need to spend more time in the room, book elsewhere. There’s no lift and everything is tight. The price is a bit high for what it is.

Dear Guest, thank you for your review. As a budget-friendly hotel, we offer compact rooms with minimal facilities, which helps us keep our prices down. We do understand that this concept might not be for everyone, which is why we try to encourage our guests to read through all the information we provide before booking anything, as we do provide the exact sizes of the rooms and their photos. Unfortunately, with the size of our hotel, we can't provide a lift, but we do specify this on our websites. We really appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon. Best regards, easyHotel Edinburgh

Stayed two nights in Sept 2021. Yes it was cheap but you still expect a minimum level of amenities which was completely lacking. £5 for the TV remote per day. £10 for the WIFI for 24 hours. The worlds cheapest and most rubbish iron. No kettle or tea making facilities in your room. For two nights if you would like the most basic of comforts listed above then add £35 onto your bill. In which case then move away from Easy Hotels and add that £35 onto what you were prepared to pay and book somewhere nicer which offers the above for FREE. It’s 2021, these are minimal expectations these days, not added extras. Room was on the top floor which was spot on to the fair. Amazing views looking out onto The Mile. Room very small but did a job for a couple in their 30s. Just a shame the things listed above weren’t accessible. Wouldn’t stay here again.
