West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

Two couples stayed 3 nights in a two bedroom apartment in block 17. Nothing at all negative to say. Very reasonable parking rates for central Edinburgh (must pre-book).
If I were to book again I would look to book direct for discount and even cheaper parking.
On arrival we were

The apartment was clean and tidy despite no breakfast items being left. This was an oversight and was remedied. However, my toddler found what looked like a plastic water bottle filled with apple juice in a low down kitchen cupboard. It was actually whisky and had been left by pr

Thank you for your review. The Knight Residence is and remains a family favourite for many, many guests. I am extremely sorry this was not your experience. Despite our quality control measures, I understand something was missed by housekeeping in your apartment which without adequate parental supervision may have had consequences. I'm further sorry no one from the senior team were in the building at the same time as you and I understand you have since received written apologies from two members of management. You will appreciate from the volume of positive reviews on this website, many from families that this was an isolated incident and not reflective of the normal standards of The Knight Residence.

Does anyone know of a good taxi or shuttle or bus service from the airport to here? Looks lovely, all booked for November
Really easy for taxis to find - just of Bread Street. Or get the tram get off at West End and walk up Lothian Road.

I note some reviews comment on noise, either within the building or from the street outside. I have booked a two room apartment for next December. Has anyone experienced noise? and which rooms should be avoided? Thanks
Hi stayed twice, no problem with noise at all, fantastic apartments

Just made reservations but would like to confirm that the 2 bedroom unit has a queen size bed in each bedroom. Also, I see some sites mention free wifi and free breakfast, would like to confirm that info as well. Thanks!
Our unit had a queen bed in one room and two twin that could be moved together in the other room. There was also a queen pullout couch in the living room. Yes WiFi was free. They even provide the equivalent of a mobile phone/device with 3g or 4g (can t remember at the moment) that was super useful n getting around town. Free breakfast? The kitchen did come w milk, juice, bread, small cereal boxes, coffee and tea and snacks. It was a great starter for our week there. There is a grocery store nearby too.

What size is your bed in the main room? I am looking for 180cm x 180cm super king. My husband has sleep apnea and sleeping in smaller beds with him is difficult. Thank you!
What apartment type are you considering? Studio, one, two or three bedroom?
