Stayed here again for a night away in Edinburgh. Service first class, room amazing. Did not have time use the leisure or spa facilities this time. Breakfast, good choice and on till 11 on Saturday and Sunday. Beside the Scottish Parliament and dynamic earth. Tour bus stops across the road. 2 minutes from the bottom of the Royal Mile, 15...

The hotel is such a friendly place to stay, the staff could not have been more helpful. The breakfast is cooked to order and was delicious. Overall we would definitely come back. We enjoyed the location as it was just slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area.

I ordered fish and chips as room service. The peas were too salty and the tartare sauce had no salt. The chips and fish were not crispy at all. Overall the food gave me an upset tummy and made me feel ill.

Hotel in great location. just off main drag, but easy walking distance of town centre. Valet parking a bonus, just stop right outside the door and car is whisked away. Friendliest staff ever had in a hotel, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing, worth going just for that! Rooms high standard.

Great hotel, great location and good food, the staff were very helpful especially Frank the concierge. Would definitely recommend this hotel but don't use the their car park, it's £25 for 24hrs and the NCP 200 yards away is half the price.

Used this for a business stopover and was impressed. Good location about 10 minutes walk from the main railway station. The Royal Mile and centre is easily accessible so would suit a weekend away base. Inside was well maintained and my room was really good. The main positive from my stay was the polite and helpful nature of all the staff...

The hotel, right next to the Scottish Parliament, is well placed for all of Edinburgh's attractions. We had a twin room which was on the ground floor. Surprisingly spacious for a city centre hotel. Ours was one of the rooms awaiting refurbishment but to be honest we couldn't fault it. The bathroom was excellent and had those lovely little bottles...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
