Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pros: extremely clean room friendly staff good location Cons: thinner bed mattress Nescafé for in room coffee thin walls The big plus for me was the cleanliness of the hotel; it really was very clean. Our room did not face the front, it was on the side of the hotel and faced rooftops, which was nice for outside noise. But, the walls were on the thinner side and we could hear our neighbors. If you are looking for just a bed to sleep in and a convenient location near High Street, it’s worth consideration.

Excellent staff- friendly and professional. My room was clean and comfortable The rooms are small. There are bigger rooms and I would suggest booking those unless you are traveling solo. The location is excellent- an easy walk to the castle, Holyrood, shopping, restaurants etc

This place is in the heart of all the main tourist attractions I would highly recommend, we didn't spend much time in the room but it was clean tidy and did the job of a good night's sleep, breakfast options were impressive with a selection of cold or hot food and many different hot & cold drinks, also dog friendly for those with fur babies. Staff were friendly and helpful also multi lingual, I would definitely stay again

Stayed for some down time between Christmas and New year, while catching up with a friend in Edinburgh. Hotel is in a great central location a few steps from the north bridge and Royal Mile. Making it easy to access both the old and new towns. Bed was really comfy had a great sleep amd the breakfast was first class. Staff were very friendly and helpful too. The bar was reasonably priced for an Edinburgh Hotel bar. Would stay again for convenience.

Great little hotel, room adequate, well stocked with coffee, tea and biscuits. Bathroom stocked with toiletries... Breakfast superb, only 1 point to make, I do not appreciate having a rather large dog walking in whilst I am eating food.. If you must allow dogs in please have a seperate area as some people like my wife are not keen on dogs..

Perfect for our stay in Edinburgh. In the heart of the old town, 10 minute walk from Waverley station/New town and literally on the Royal Mile and it's attractions. Staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly even mking my partner a hot chocolate in the night when she couldn't sleep. The room was lovely , though a bit more storage would have been handy but wasn't an issue to us, and the bed was comfortable. Shower was warm and powerful and the breakfast buffet was spot on especially being opened till 11am which gave us plenty of time in the morning, plenty of hot and cold choice as well as selection of drinks and cereals. Would definitely use this hotel again, it was perfect.

Very good hotel, nicely located in Old town near Cockburn Street. I chose this hotel as it was very cheap for 2 nights, including breakfast. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a double bed room on the top floor with a nice view (room 602). It got very cold but you can put the heater on. It was fairly quiet. Only thing missing is a couple of hooks near the door. I recommend the Monkey Barrel Comedy club just a door away, you get to see new comedians and have a fun evening.

On December 27 th we were stranded at Preston and all trains to Edinburgh were cancelled. We had been really looking forward to our trip and Storm Gettit was completely out of our control.Despite this being an event that was completely out of control and we were making our way from Manchester to Edinburgh the hotel ibis has refused to give us any of our money back.Do not use this hotel if you are coming by train because if something happens to your train which is not your fault they will not give you your money back.

Dear M662DTemmab, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances that disrupted your travel plans. We completely understand that the cancellation of your train to Edinburgh due to Storm Gerrit was beyond your control, and we empathise with the frustration it must have caused. We would like to clarify our hotel's cancellation policy, which is in line with industry standards. In cases like this, where the circumstances are beyond anyone's control, we encourage our guests to reach out to their travel insurance provider to explore possible compensation options. In these circumstances we always try to be flexible by allowing a change of dates so our guests are able to enjoy Edinburgh albeit a little later than planned. If you would like to discuss this option please reach out to me directly on H2039-GM@accor.com. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future under more favourable circumstances. Kind regards, Dean
