Lovely stay at The Sherwood. We were visiting the Fringe for 3 days and the location was perfect. We walked into the city centre - about 20/30 mins, also caught the bus - straight outside and very frequent. Small but comfortable room, lovely breakfast. Beautiful, traditional Edinburgh house. Vivienne immediately made you feel “at home” and supplied a wealth of information. Would definitely recommend.

My mother and I LOVED our stay at Sherwood Guest House. Vivienne was the perfect host: unobtrusive and kind but helpful with recs and tips when we asked for them. Our room was tidy and had enough space for the two of us, and the breakfast provided us just what we needed to fuel a day of adventuring around Edinburgh. The neighborhood is a great launching point to easily walk or bus into the City Centre. We appreciated the charm of the neighborhood restaurants and shops.

We have just had a most pleasant stay at Sherwood Guest House. The initial warm welcome from Vivienne and her continuing exuberant demeanour, the excellent and more than adequate breakfast and the spotlessness of the property make this guest house deserving of more than a 5 out of 5 rating. An added bonus was the excellent compendium provided which contained a vast amount of pertinent information and if you needed anything further Vivienne was only too pleased to assist. Thank you Vivienne for making our stay in your wonderful city that much better.

We were a group of 9 with a mix of family and friends. We loved our stay here! The building was beautiful, breakfast was great and Vivienne was so nice and accommodating. She really has thought of everything in the rooms, from hairdryers, toiletries even water stocked in our fridge. It’s a little bit of a walk from the main attractions but one day we took an Uber and walked back. Lots of great restaurants around too. It was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of the city center. I would definitely stay here again.

My fiancé and I spent 3 nights at the Sherwood and it was fantastic! Vivianne is a super friendly and welcoming person. Rooms were super clean and comfy! The continental breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here!! She gave so much information and recommendations on what to explore in the city of Edinburgh, we didn’t have enough time to do them all, but the ones we did do were great! If we get the chance to go back to Edinburgh , we will definitely stay there again if she has space!

This is s lovely guest house homely, you receive on arrival a great warm welcome givne by Vivienne who has a wonderful persona, so welcoming, friendly , accomodating. Each room has a great information guide of all things to see visit, as well as great selection of places to eat, Vivienne will also help with ideas and suggestions of places and gives clear directions to get there. Comfortable room compact with shower great supply of tea/coffee and biscuits. Lovely breakfast , good choices and selection from cereal yoogurts and friut to meats, cheeses and pastries. Great bus service which has quite a selection of buses servicing the Sherwood. Would recommend when getting into the city, to book a city tour gives you great insight to locations of places to visit and as tickets for 24 hour you can get on and off as you choose. Loved the Sherwood will visit again

We are an Spanish couple hosted in this wonderful little hotel in August during 5 nights. We got the last room, the unique with private bathroom outside the room, but a comfortable room, with some details like microwave, a little freeze, tea and coffee, biscuits. Vivienne is a fantastic hostess that helps you in anything you need in order to be happy during your staying. In your room you have a hotel and tourist guide in which you can find useful information for visiting the city and some near location. The hotel is very clean and silent, comfortable bed. The breakfast is not very varied, but appropriate and enough having in mind there are only 6 rooms. Vivienne prepare personally toasted for you on demand. The hotel is 20-25 minutes walking to the Royal Mile and the most important places to visit are around it, anycase ther are some buses to get in the stop just 30 metres from the Hotel. In summary, this is an ideal Hotel for your visit to Edinburgh.

We have just arrived back from spending 3 nights at the Sherwood. Great little place to stay either 40-45 minute walk into the City or you can easily catch one of the many buses that go past. There is a bus stop virtually outside the Guest house. Vivienne is a lovely landlady. Very friendly and helpful. The room was tiny but had a great en-suite. Spotlessly clean and the bed was made every day which we didn't expect. Breakfast was continental but that suits me. Not a massive fan of a fry up. Good selection of croissants, pastries, fruit, yogurt etc. On a very busy road but the traffic wasn't a problem at all at night, even with the window open. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Back in Edinburgh for the first time since February 2020 and, of course it meant coming back to the Sherwood! It was, as it always is, amazing. I love staying here and it feels a bit like home to me, as does Edinburgh. Of course, the Sherwood wouldn't be half as good without Vivienne, who is the heart and soul of the place. I have always received great advice and tips on places to go and see. I can warmly recommend the Sherwood to anybody traveling to Edinburgh, the location is great - so many good restaurants nearby to choose from and it is quieter than being in the town centre. I will be back ...
