Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don't always complain but my experience recently (February 2024 )in this hotel is just unbelievable. The hotel photo of what you see on this website is probably 5 0r 6 years since last renovated 2018(reception lady said that). The carpets very dirty, corridor has a very bad smell and looks like no one clean for ages. The lift has cracking noise like about the just shut down everytime you’re in it. All the room doors has a cracked is so old that you can even see the paint is comin off, my door at home is so much better or i think your toilet door is better. If you go underground which most of the rooms are even worse. The hallway to the swimming pool is just disgusting to walk around without slippers( they dont provide slippers pr bathrobes) its not worth to have a breakfast included either, the hot food(eggs, tiny sausages, tin mushrooms, small tomatoes, bacon and beans) very small hot breakfast is not even hot because i can see the flies playing around it. This hotel is probably got 100 + rooms which on the third floor you have to go to stairs and we ended up going to the fire exit. I was at the reception and theres was a lady who has a massive complain about everything in the hotel ,telling them to shut down and they should not operate as there were so many wrong about the hotel..Everything she said is true about her complain, dirty carpets, doors and toilets are dirty, smelly and very dusty rooms.not worth to stay there, better to get a decent but clean premises like premier Inn or Holiday Inn.

Really can’t fault this hotel on anything based on what we paid which was great value. Room clean & spacious. Great TV on wall. Good shower. Shower & shampoo gels. Selection of teas & coffee. Nice pool, sauna & steam room & gym. Staff lovely. Complimentary drink each & 10% card of any other food/drink. Nice bar food. Really enjoyed our stay. Edinburgh city centre 10-15 min drive or bus at the door.

Arrive at the hotel. Easy check-in. Went to view the room and our floor was smelling of poo! Including our room. We sprayed some perfume and tried to ignore the smell and enjoy our night. Put the TV on and spoke through the programs. 10 pm and we had a knock on our door... You are being too loud and we have had complaints. Wtf!? Our tv was at 10 and we just sat talking. We didn't complain about the kids running around above us. Floors creaked and dirty shower! The awful smell of poo in the hall and bedroom. Dirty carpets and ashtrays full outside!! Won't ever return

Room 318. No plug in sink which then started to overflow with gunk due to blockage. No coat hangers either. Fortunately only there for one night, so hangers not an issue but sink was unhygienic. Final irritation, woken at 5.30am with fire alarm. Went off after 15 seconds. Waited just to hear if hotel was to be evacuated. A few minutes later a member of staff knocked our door. My wife answered and was greeted with “You set the fire alarm off is everything okay?” My wife informed him we’d been fast asleep so how could we have set it off. No apology. Not very customer focused I’m afraid. Couldn’t get back to sleep and reported the coat hanger, sink and alarm situation before going to breakfast. On departure asked reception about my complaint and Maria the manger viewed the report and advised us the alarm must have been set off by the room being too warm. (Just to note the room was comfortable and we never touched the radiators). I was expecting some small goodwill gesture, but no apology or offer transpired. I may have gone back if she had shown some empathy, but will probably not return.

Fabulous venue for our salsa dance weekend. The whole hotel was taken over by dancers. The event was extremely well organised and the hotel staff in all departments helped to make everything run smoothly. We had several rooms for different dance classes running during the day and then for social dancing into the early hours of the morning. The catering was superb especially the extensive breakfast buffet. All dietary requirements were well catered for. There were good choices for lunch and dinner and plenty of water was available day and night for thirsty dancers. My room was very clean and comfortable and had all the necessary items including a hairdryer and an ironing board and iron. There was a bath and a shower and good wifi. I made full use of the leisure centre. There is a good sized pool, sauna and steam room plus a gym. I can't thank the polite, friendly and and very patient staff...in particular Allan, Anna and Anastasia at reception then Craig, Mohammed, Mattieas,John, Ebba,Seila, Samuel and Callum plus staff in the leisure centre Brandon, Sara, David and Jamie. I can't thank everyone enough for making my weekend such fun.

We booked a Christmas party night for work friends. The venue is lovely and the meal was very nice. But the evening was completely spoiled by the DJ. Th3 music was absolutely awful. I spoke to someone who went the following night and they said exactly the sane thing. The guy had no idea what's suitable for a Christmas party night. "Sunshine on Leith" to kick things off?? S Club 7 - we're not 7 year old kids! No 70s or 80s music or classics. It was truly dreadful. Our group left early. The bar seemed to make up the drinks prices too as they were different each time I went to the bar. Suchba shame as we were really looking forward to a good party, but the music was awful. You really need a decent dj, as they can make or break a party. Not just my opinion, the whole group was taken aback at how bad it was. Same as the person who went last night.

The hotel is small & like in Dublin, it’s an old building. Although, the hotel is very clean even the rooms. There is no musty smell. The hotel staff are courteous and kind. Breakfast buffet has good choices. Their restaurant has good menu choices. I like that they have several amenities to offer at his hotel which includes; pool, sauna, steam room, restaurants, and a good size gym. Location is also pretty good. Around 20 min or less drive to downtown. They also offer free parking for their guests.

Bar prices extortionate. Music far too loud and rubbish. Barmen kept clearing half full glasses and when I pointed this out to the manager was told “oh I don’t think so”. Would not recommend and won’t go back.
