This hotel is in a great location. It has recently been updated. Very clean. Staff very helpful. The restaurant is very good for a quick bite or dinner. Absolutely loved the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is well located. The rooms are amazing, nice atmosphere in there, clean, modern. It was great having the opportunity to go to the swimming pool. And by the way, the water at the reception tastes delicious with watermelon or orange in there. We definitely felt well in Roxburgh!

My partner and I stayed here for four nights while I was on business and he was tagging along on pleasure. We absolutely loved the hotel. It definitely had its quirks in terms of layout, courtyards, bar areas, little stairwells, etc., but we had no troubles whatsoever and enjoyed its charm. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted... More

We had an overnight stay here recently and the hotel is beautiful and full of charm. The staff couldn't do enough for us while we were there and they were so welcoming. We did have a slight issue with the heating in our room and as there were no other rooms available the staff brought us another heater and organised... More

Great place to stay , in the heart of town. Nice sized rooms and the public areas are fantastic. Only eat breakfast as I was at a private function but both meals were very good Only problem was the wait for a table at breakfast but that was my fault because like every body else I went at 9-30 am

Good location, friendly helpful staff. We asked for quiet room if possible and were in room on third floor. We were told room overlooked square but window was a skylight as roof sloped at side of room so not really a view and made room rather dark.Good selection at breakfast and tea/coffee making in room. When checking out we mentioned about... More

I can honestly say this is a stunningly beautiful hotel. The entrance doesn’t give anything away about how lovely the inside is nor how big it is! I am from Edinburgh originally so aware of The Roxburghe but this was the first time I have been in to see just how much of a hidden tardis this seems to be.... More

Couldn't fault a thing, stayed here a few times before. Feels like its been renovated and the décor is so beautiful. Busy hotel with great atmosphere. All staff are very friendly, room was cosy, lovely decorated with loads of nice touches, White Company toiletries, immaculately clean. I booked to stay at the Roxburghe with my mum and wasn't disappointed. Our room was lovely; spacious, clean with good quality facilities. The location is excellent is you plan to spend time exploring central Edinburgh and having the spa facilities on site was an added bonus. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Would stay again.

We stayed here for one night on visit to Edinburgh Christmas market. We had a really well appointed bedroom (view not great but you can't have everything) with beautifully decorated bathroom. All very boutique but with nice touch like fresh milk and bottled water in own mini-fridge. Breakfast was amazing. Classic cooked breakfast is to be recommended with good choice... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
