My wife and I stayed at Bells Brae for a weekend break. Everything was perfect, from the moment we arrived. Stephanie and Stewart are very welcoming and friendly, and make every effort to make your stay a wonderful experience. The house is unique and dates back to 1597, our bedroom had a veranda opening up onto the Water of Leith, river. If the waters are high and you are lucky, you may witness an Otter swimming by! Furthermore, the breakfast is delicious! We hope to return and will most definitely be recommending this first class place to stay to family and friends.

If you want to dive straight into a story book, look no further. Tucked away, in the heart of historic Dean Village, Bell's Brae House is a delightfully quirky, old, stone building, with a spiral staircase, plants everywhere, and two very warm hosts. Stephanie and Stewart have thought of every detail. A bedroom and bathroom that are entirely private. Fluffy robes, delicious, hearty breakfasts and sherry every evening. And most of all, a home that feels loved. We felt instantly welcome, and pampered, throughout our stay. If you're visiting Edinburgh and really want to soak up the atmosphere of the city, don't hesitate. Bell's Brae House will thrill every romantic, historian and story-teller out there.

In a very old historic part of Edinburgh, away from the hustle of the city is this B&B in the heart of Dean Village which itself has become a tourist mecca. The B&B features only one room (a surprise for us) but it is large and delightful. Through a private entrance and up an old stone spiral staircase you find the room and the private bath across the hall. The room overlooks the River Leith and a number of older historic buildings. Breakfast is in the downstairs dining room and Stef was a great cook as well as being full of local information. Princes Street is an easy 10 minute walk. We very much enjoyed our three night stay in Edinburgh.

I had an amazing stay in June 2018. Stewart was a wonderful host and was very helpful with carrying my luggage on arrival and then calling a taxi for me on my last day. He made me feel welcome and his breakfast are delicious, especially the pancakes. The location of Bell’s Brae House was in the beautiful Dean Village and close to Stockbridge and the lovely Circus Lane. Thank you for a memorable visit. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Located in the heart of the historic Dean Village, Bell's Brea house, with it's large atmospheric bedroom overlooking the river below was one of the best B+B's we stayed in on a 7 week trip. We felt privileged to be able to stay in such a beautiful, historic old building. Stewart and Stef were wonderful hosts and Stewards breakfasts memorable.

This was an excellent B&B. It was an absolute joy to stay here, both my mother and I felt it really enhanced our trip to Edinburgh. We had a very warm welcome and we were able to leave our bags as we arrived into the city very early in the morning. This was so appreciated and it was only the beginning of the wonderful hospitality we experienced in this place.Stewart and Stephanie are excellent hosts, they go above and beyond. The view from the room is incredible. The room itself is well setup and includes tea, shortbread, tourist information, maps, reading material and a very comfy bed! The house is amazing, it has so much history which Stewart was happy to explain to me. Dean Village is beautiful and an excellent place to wander around. The breakfasts were superb. I highly recommend this place.

We felt so welcome, everything was wonderful including the view! Very old and interesting house with bags of character including a stone spiral staircase! Home made biscuits were provided in our room as was a small decanter of sherry! We were made to feel very at home and could come and go as we pleased. The breakfasts were fab! Huge choice with everything freshly prepared.

Here are some special aspects of 'better than excellent' Bell's Brae: The hosts were very engaging, yet respected our privacy; the breakfasts - among the very best in terms of selection and quality; our room - such a great view, Water of Leith, not to mention the sherry and shortbread; location - easy walk to Edinburgh centre, castle, Stockbridge market, etc.; benefits far exceed costs.

We stayed at the welcoming guesthouse at the bridge over the Waters of Leith end of rainy May. Quite easy to find leaving tram station West End turning left to Queensferry Street. Steph and Stewart are straightforward and helpful, room has a nice view and beds were comfortable for a deep and quiet sleep. We enjoyed the biscuits and finally we got our little bottle of that mysterious liquid (no whisky, no sherry), but what was it? We recommend everything and would come again on our next visit (marathon)!
