Stayed for 3 nights,19th-21st February. First time in Edinburgh. The man on reception was excellent and gave us a map and directions for places to go. Our room 124,was quiet, comfy and spacious. Huge comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and service friendly. Will definitely return. On the evening we checked in a rather obnoxious man was extremely abusive to the two...

Fantastic service throughout, great location. Rooms tidy and very clean. Breakfast was great, can do anything for you. Plus side it has parking at a small fee. Hotel is due major refurbishment, so can't wait to go back and stay.

This place was amazing for what we paid! Clean, big room with comfy bed! All the luxury essentials were provided - TV, hair dryer, kettle, tea bags. Bathroom was great! Staff were friendly and allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel the day we checked out so we could pick them up later. Just great for a short...

Stayed here over the weekend with friends and were pleased with the room, that was clean and tidy. Slept well on comfy beds, had 2 pillows for each. The bathroom wasn't super modern, but good enough and clean as well. Wi-Fi worked in the room and was free of charge. Didn't have breakfast, so can't say anything about it. Location...

Stayed for tree nights on a family leisure trip on February. Location: Couldn’t be better! Near the centre (10 minutes walk) but quiet at nights. Lots of restaurants around, bus stop just outside. Stuff: The friendliest and most obliging staff I have ever seen!!!! (And I am an ex-receptionist and have travelled a lot.) Nothing was too much for them...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
