This former Premier Inn has just been taken over by Leonardo chain who are due to start a refurbishment early next year. The staff have been retained and appear to be enjoying the new management/ownership. The rooms have not changed so once inside it still looks and feels like a Premier Inn which needs attention. Good location for Haymarket and...

Had a good stay here while visiting the Christmas markets and street of light in Edinburgh. Hotel very clean and rooms spotless. Rooms plenty big and comfy beds. Breakfast was good and plenty of choice for the family. All staff we interacted with were pleasant and friendly and hardworking. Would definitely stay here again.

A Premier Inn in all but name, A loose light fitting fused the room lights but was swiftly dealt with by the very helpful maintenance man who also rectified the lack of a comfortable chair, in a triple room only 1 upright chair to a desk. Room spotless, bed comfortable. 2 people using the room only 1 tea bag, per...

We've stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh City Centre for six nights at the end of November and when I booked the hotel, I was fully aware of the fact that by the time we would arrive, Leonardo would be running the hotel for more than a month. I assumed that this was more than enough time to transform the...

Comfortable Hotel that we stayed in one night after going to one of the Scotland Rugby Games, 15-20 minute walk to Murrayfield, a couple of minutes walk to/from the Haymarket train station and pubs. Exactly what we needed.

Stayed here 25th to 27th November for a long weekend in Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and managed to check us in early which was a great as we had a 2 year old with us. The hotel is not too far from the centre of Edinburgh (15 walk) which is great, the breakfast was fantastic and there was plenty....

Recently stayed here for 3 nights for a break. Staff was friendly, they managed to check us in early which was a great point. Location is great as the Centre is just 15 mins walk away. Hotel and the room itself is very dated but I guess it is because they just took over from premier inn. All in all...

The hotel was good value for money, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. The only downside would be the building works next door - very loud but can't be helped by the hotel and the hot water in the bath ran out brown also due to the building works.

Good location in the city center, close to pretty much everything you would want to see. Clean room, very good powerful shower. Still technically a Premier Inn but added a bit of their own touch. Full Breakfast is £10 per person and that's the only option available as they don't do continental separately, unfortunately, as I thought that got food...

After a long train journey we simply wanted to eat in and relax. The website advertised a restaurant and indeed there is one.. However it's closed. According to the Barman " We've been taken over and don't know what's happening" Watch this space... I've a feeling this is only the beginning of the story.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
