The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Haymarket station and a few minutes by bus from the centre of Edinburgh and so is an excellent location. There are a number of restaurants and a couple of pubs within a couple of minutes walk which is another plus point. The hotel is being renovated although any disruption is being...

We stayed for 1 night on the 25th November as we were going to the Christmas market then out for a meal and then to see a movie. We booked in advance and got a really good price. We were told in advance that the hotel was being renovated but we didn't know what to expect. We arrived about 3pm,...

Normal high standard from Premier inn's, currently under going some renovation but had no impact at all on our stay. Hadnt booked or paid for breakfast but were given a complimentary continental breakfast to compensate for renovation work, however no compensation required. Rooms immaculate, quiet, comfy beds, flat screen tv, tea and coffee. Central location 5-10 minute walk to Princess...

Spent three nights at this hotel, the staff were excellent as was the location. The hotel was on a busy road though and the front windows even though double glazed did let in a lot of noise. Our room was facing the front so if you want a quiet room ask when booking. The room and bed was typical standard...

Fabulous hotel, service excellent! Family room was great and hotel facilities brill. Pool was lovely very relaxing. Restaurant was ideal for a family meal on an evening. Reception staff very helpful. Good location short walk to Grassmarket and then a bit further on for Princes Street or simply a bus ride.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
