Just the job for a long weekend in Edinburgh, comfy hotel not that far from the city centre, so met our needs perfectly, would certainly recommend, easy to get about town and short walks to main areas shops etc.

Two of us took 3 kids and popped in for a drink after being at a birthday party in town late October. I have very good memories of the Ettrick for being a child friendly place, with a lovely lady owner who used to make a great fuss particularly at Xmas. Also we would have end of term lunches there...

This hotel has been recently renovated and although it belongs in the 3* category, it is either top of its league or could pass for a 4* hotel. Rooms are cosy and everything new, remind me of a hobbit hole! Nice bar and restaurant. Excellent value for money + it includes breakfast. Downside is there is no elevator and could...

I have stayed at Ettrick once before and liked it then but this time given room 7 (which I think is same room mentioned in another poor review) Very small shabby single, especially minute bathroom, the fittings of which were falling apart. If I'd been staying longer would have asked for change of room. Staff member who greeted me on...

Restaurant has recently been done up and modernised which it really needed. Looks great. We had approx 70 of us for Xmas lunch. Service was great. Soup starter with artisan bread was surprisingly delish. Turkey dinner was lovely. They were accommodating when I wanted to change my dessert. Staff who organised event were impressed with the efficiency and effort and...

This is a lovely small hotel and I have visited in the past for food and drink. Today I met friends for lunch in the conservatory and although very quiet with just a handful of diners it was nevertheless a very pleasant place to have coffee while we decided what to have for lunch. There appeared to be only one...

Old building that shows signs of wear inside but don't let that put anybody off. The conservatory, dining area is a great addition to the original building and breakfast in here was very relaxed. We had double room which was spacious with modern shower, toilet. Staff were great,we wouldn't hesitate to go back! Bar prices were reasonable and it seemed to be...

Stayed last year and did not regret. Staff members were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend mainly for couples who do not want to be disturbed. Will certainly return next year to stay for at least a week.
