The location of the hostel is perfect for back packers (a couple of minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverly station) and the staff are also warm and friendly. If u are looking for a little country side experience after ur visit to London, then this is the perfect place for you! Experience the classic old world charm of the buildings and... More

Haggis Hostel is probably the best hostel in Edinburgh. Top centric location, all the tourist attractions can be reached by foot. The staff is really nice and friendly. The rooms are very clean and well equipped.

Overall it was a very nice stay, with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was included and you have free tea/coffee whenever you want. There is an extra fee service for towels but it is very cheap so no need to bring your towel in your luggage. Location is really good, close the city center and very near the bus to... More

It took me 3 minutes to get there from the train station and it was close to everything. It was very nice to wake up to a lovely prepared breakfast in the kitchen. And its for... More

I am writing to express our thanks as we had an excellent stay in you hostel last week. The evening meal was really outstanding and we all appreciated all the effort that obviously went into the preparation and service. The packed lunch was also much appreciated. This stay was a long time ago.. The place is mainly for students looking for adventures while they travel in scotland. Almost no space in rooms other than sleeping. You share the same room with lots of foreigners. The door is always open..

Overall fairly average, but for the cheap price you can't expect too much. Only small valuables lockers in rooms so nowhere to put your bag except on the floor with everyone else's. Shower space is good, room to move around and there is actually a bench to put things on. A lot of stairs to go up to get to... More

Great location, nice staffs, no trouble during stay. Someone who is comfortable staying in Hostels can stay here. If you have luggages be careful as there are stairs to climb. I think this accommodation gave me a positive confidence staying in a hostel.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
