It was in a convenient location for us. Bedside light did not work. Shaving light did not work - permanently disabled? Noisy from 5am onward. Only continental breakfast available at £5/head extra. I expect cooked breakfast in a B&B. Curtains let in a lot of light. Nights are very short at summer solstice in Scotland! No spoons or sticks to...

I booked this accommodation using on an up to 48 hrs cancellation basis for a Saturday in May 2016. The first thing I noticed was that they charged the full amount on booking. Then I was not able to travel so cancelled the booking 3 days before arrival only for St Bernards to send me an email confirming the cancellation...

Spent one night here. Had arrived before the checkin time and was able to store the luggage. This place is quite close to the Dean village weith walks. If you stay here do not miss that it is a fantastic walk down the dean bridge..

This B&B is nice and very close to city centre. It is cheaper than average so it is definitely worth it. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast (£5) is worth paying for if you want to have it between 8 and 9AM. I will consider staying here again when we go back to Edinburgh.

After seeing all the negative reviews I was very apprehensive about staying here, however pleasantly surprised. It ticked all the boxes we were looking for. Rooms was spacious, nice little view overlooking the gardens ( room 4 ), close to the city. Didn't hear much noise to be honest as reported in previous reviews. All in all if your looking...

We booked this hotel for 3 nights in Edinburgh as it is in a nice area, fairly central, and had parking. What a joke! The only 'free parking' available is on the street from 6pm to 8:30am every day. We were given a barely legible map to the closest area with free parking 24 hours, which was a 20/25 minute...

Booked this room as it was listed that the room had parking and wifi - what a joke! The manager told me when I arrived that the street parking outside was only until 8:30am and then I would have to pay after that for a maximum of 4 hours, but he then told me it was ok, because he knew...

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
