Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel, while situated near perfectly for an intimate experience with historic Edinburgh, has sacrificed quality service for a "trendy," youthful atmosphere. While the interior design is chic and smooth, the service is 2nd class, slow, and focused more on profits and image than on customer satisfaction.

Came to Edinburgh for the weekend and the hotel was in a perfect location in the old town walking distance to all of the must see spots. Couldn't fault the spacious rooms very comfy and clean. The staff were all fantastic and would help with any questions we had.

You can fault the location, atmosphere, cleanliness or overall feel of the hotel. However, (and this could have just been my room) I was unable to sleep until gone 3:30am due to the sheer noise from the nightclub next door. And unfortunately all they could do at the hotel is offer earplugs and say that it usually does quieten when the club closes. Perhaps on a weekday this wouldn’t be an issue.

The staff are stunning, the location brilliant and the overall vibe of the hotel is excellent. Our room was very comfortable and well laid out apart from one or two niggly design feature in the shower area. The main area of disappointment was the breakfast experience. It's not a cheap hotel to stay in but we had breakfast included in our room rate. When we were seated we were told that there was a set list of things included in our rate but if we wanted some of the other things on the menu then it would cost us extra (pancakes, eggs benedict etc) Whilst the quality of what we had was fine it felt a bit underwhelming and limited when compared to similar hotels we have stayed in in the past. Other than this issue we really enjoyed our stay here.

By far the best city break hotel we have stayed in. From the service as you arrive to the last drink at the Commons bar area just before you leave, it is perfection. The location is in my opinion the best location in Edinburgh. The rooms are lovely and the vibe of the hotel is young, beautiful, attentive, clean and all other positive features you would expect. Good value for money. Could not recommend enough. So much so, we have already decided to stay in their sister hotel in Nashville next. Service with a difference.

Loved everything about this hotel: location is around the corner of the Royal Mile, very beautiful building, rooms beautifully decorated etc. Cocktails were very nice and breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly: we arrived early, but was no problem as the room was already ready. We have been to Edinburgh a few times, but this hotel is the best. Hope to visit again next year.

A wonderful hotel in a perfect location for exploring Edinburgh. The bar is fantastic and the cocktails were outstanding. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was good.. but I would expect better from a 5 star. I'd definitely stay here again, and would happily recommend.

We had a private dinner in the 'Founders Room' for my 50th birthday - the room was great as took up to 20 people. The food was amazing and we were so well looked after by team on site. Following dinner we had hired the Scarlet lounge private karaoke room which was a brilliant way to keep the night going. Thoroughly recommend the hotel for either a small get together like mine or they have a large (and stunning hall) for a larger party.

A wonderful stay in a superb hotel. From stepping through the doors to departing for our way back home. Everyone of the hotel team were totally professional, helpful and attended to our requirements immediately. One of our most memorable city breaks.

Fabulous hotel in a prime location. Perfect for every occasion, beautiful decor spotlessly clean, fabulous and friendly staff. Bedrooms are quirky, extremely comfortable with luxurious furnishings and the most comfortable beds and linens. The bedrooms are immaculately clean too.
