We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The owners are very welcoming. Our room was huge for a family of 3. The building is old but well-maintained and clean. Most importantly, it is close to almost all attractions. Recommended place!

The hotel is very close to many attractions and we had a very comfortable stay there. They have large rooms, good shower and nice breakfast (you can ask for other things from your table). The attending was great! The sir who was taking care of the hotel with his wife at the time (probably the owner) is a very sympathetic...

this bnb is well located in the centre of Edinburgh so everything is within a walking distance.. the owner Gregg is very accommodating given he was very receptive to all of our questions when we got in. His cooked brekkie (bacon, sausage, beans and eggs) was awesome, especially the panfried eggs which i loved so much... the only thing to...

Dear Andy, Thank you for the very good review and you enjoyed our cooked breakfast prepared by our Chef. However the small showers are actually the size of a British Standard, only the cubicles make it look smaller. But we have also the very big Shower / Bath Room available for the guests to use at the lower grandfloor. We...

Stayed here for two nights and overall I found it to be quite pleasant. Greg was really nice and accommodating. He kindly helped us print out our flight tickets (this saved us from having to find and pay for a printing place in the city). Breakfast was very good, and he was also considerate with regards to our dietary requirements....

This bed and breakfast is perfectly located in the heart of the city centre, close to the main train station and airport tram. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and gave us wonderful advice in regards to things to do and see, and main directions. We received a nice complimentary Scottish breakfast and the room was clean and tidy,...

Ok, if you want a clean hotel with breakfast that is reasonably central in the high season, come here. It is not all that bad, but it is certainly not perfect. I guess it depends on how you look at it. cons: Squeaky floors, Tiny showers (just a cupboard) No elevator - so you have to drag your luggage up...

We are accustomed to staying in highly rated bed and breakfasts. We needed lodging for one night in this location. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.

“My room - number two - did have a squeaky floor, but it had a good wifi connection the whole time I was there. It was a little noisy, being beside the road. It had one double and one single bed, and it was on the ground floor - meaning less stairs to get to the breakfast area.”
