We spent two wonderful nights at this hotel and were absolutely delighted with our stay. The hotel is ideally located between the airport and the city centre, which has made our arrival and departure as well as our excursions very easy. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated and have high ceilings, which makes for a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent, and there was everything you need for a pleasant stay – we felt comfortable from the start.
We would particularly like to highlight the friendly and courteous staff. The lady at the reception welcomed us warmly, supported us in carrying our luggage and gave us valuable tips and recommendations for our stay.
A special highlight was the possibility to order food as room service directly to the room. The offer was varied and the quality of the food excellent, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
However, there are a few small criticisms. At breakfast you could only choose one dish from the à la carte menu per person. For each additional dish you would have to pay an extra £15, which was a bit disappointing. The breakfast buffet itself was rather small and did not offer too much choice.
Another downer was that there are only stairs and no ramp for luggage, which made transporting our suitcases a bit more difficult. Despite these minor inconveniences we felt very comfortable and would come back anytime. It was an all-round successful stay, and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

This place was too notch!!! Arrived the landscaping was breathtaking from the table made with swings to the beautiful flowers! We first met Meghan at the bar that was welcoming then checked into our rooms! This place at no point feels like a hotel! The black and white photos and decour.. you feel as if youre visiting a home. The food was so flavorful! The service was professional and personal! Kyla at breakfast went out of her way to let me try vegetarian haggis and black pudding. Just rounded my first visit to Scotland to perfection!! The only thing I would change is putting shower bars or slip proof matting in the showers. When I come back to Scotland this will be where I’ll be staying! Felt like home away from home

Recently booked in the Murrayfield with my girlfriend for a night, we were down to see a kasabian concert.
The welcome we received when we arrived was very warm and genuine, very outgoing and helpful Lindsey on reception had upgraded us and told us all we needed to know, from transport into princes street, to munchies after our concert. This kind of welcome was much appreciated after a long drive (hotel has free parking for guests).
The room was immaculate and stunning, a credit to the team and Graeme especially who cleaned our room…
Didn’t see much of the restaurant, but the bartender was, again, very welcoming and helpful to two hungover guests, fulling our waters and sorting us out with juice and directions to fine food places.
10/10 would stay again!!!!

The restaurant and the food were both lovely, although my hubby did have enough of sourdough bread by the end of our stay. The staff were also really pleasant, and we had a lovely waitress for our dinner on Saturday evening. The hotel is great for transport links and we found it really easy to travel from the airport and into the city. There is also a handy Tesco express not far. Downsides would include the location of our room. Being just above the reception area, the noise travelled (we are both early risers and early to bed people, especially after busy days in the city) and we heard most of what was happening until late. We also had the pleasure of the kitchen's extractor fan just outside our window, which was not nice to listen to. One thing the hubby and I really didn't enjoy was the bathroom in the room. The bathroom is situated right next to the bed, only has a frosted glass door and no lock. This did not sit well with us! After nearly 15 years of marriage, we still like privacy, so I sent my hubby out of the room if I needed to use the toilet. We also did not have our milk or coffee replaced on the second day. These things were disappointing considering my hubby booked it as a special getaway for my 40th birthday which was on Friday. I don't think we would return due to the bathroom as we feel most rooms would be the same.

Hello, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your stay. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the restaurant and the lovely staff, as well as the convenient transport links and nearby amenities. However, I’m sorry to learn that your experience was marred by noise issues and the layout of the bathroom. Privacy is indeed important, and it sounds like that was a significant downside for you during your stay, especially on such a special occasion. I appreciate your comments about the milk and coffee not being restocked, as well. Your observations will certainly be valuable for the management to consider as they strive to improve their guest experience. Thank you again for your input, and I hope your future getaways are much more enjoyable! Kind regards, Cameron - General Manager

Checked in at 6pm, checked out (refused to stay) at 7pm. Booked a luxe double room located in the House which is a short walk from the main hotel. House dark and bleak with, bizarrely, two leather sofas outside on the grass front, soaking wet and it looked bad. Entered the ground floor first room on left, smelt dirty. WAS DIRTY. Saw marks though pillow case, removed case to find a pillow (with no protector on) that had blood spots and loads of saliva stains and torn at the top. The bedspread had stains on it, the footstool had human bodily fluid on it (ie semen), the other foot stool had marks on it. Marks all over skirting boards, marks on side of wardrobe. Carpet dirty. Website shows stunning rooms, this is a con. Paid just over £1k for 4 nights. Absolutely disgusting room and hotel. Two members of staff were excellent (Monica) and another lady and got a full refund. The General Manager (GM) would not come out of his cupboard to speak to us. We were there to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. Had a full schedule booked for the week including restaurants, however, this ruined out stay and we could not find another hotel for the same budget. We ended up getting a train back home, arriving home 2245 hours after 12 hours of travel total. The GM then sent me a mail with the the corporate wording of not our usual standard and that he was new in post. Any new GM would 1) speak to the customer face to face 2) ensure that you check every room yourself when you are new. It is called leadership skills, communication skills and treating every customer the same with dignity and respect. Usual excuses made including a discount on another visit. No way would we ever step back in to this dirty, disgusting, money taking establishment. The owner should bow his/her head in shame.

Beware of booking this hotel! We opted for a cosy room, and on the hotels website, the cosy room looks like a generous sized double. What we got was, in fact, nothing more than a box room with a window facing onto the rear car park. Barely enough room to put down a suitcase.. The room had a large wardrobe to the right of the door with a pull put shelf with tea/coffee making on it. But the wardrobe door would only open 1/2 way as the self closing mechanism for the room door would hit it, and the pull out shelf was at thigh height. Utterly pointless and meant to use the kettle, etc, you have to boil the kettle INSIDE the wardrobe while squeezing into the small space. The bathroom was poky, and on lifting the toilet seat, there was a strong stale urine smell. The bathroom door was smoked glass with gaps around the edges, meaning you could see anyone inside on the toilet. On top of that, the radiator was so close to the toilet that it was almost impossible to sit down comfortably. Large television in the room, which was a bonus, except none of the channels worked properly, and signal would drop out every few seconds, making it impossible to enjoy any programs! There was a valuables.safe in the wardrobe on the top shelf which wasn't attached to anything..again utterly pointless.
For £260 what we got, I wouldn't have paid £100 for anywhere else.

Plus points: comfy bed, good toiletries and quality towels and bedding. Great breakfast. You can get the bus right outside and be on Princes St in 10 mins. Negatives: we were in the ‘house’ 2 doors down the road, not the main building, which appears a little neglected (none of it is a sparkling as the pictures look!). Carpet badly stained and needs a good professional cleaning, bathroom is nice but neglected- shelf missing, shower drain cover broken and dust visible in corners. Mirror had the same smears on it all the 3 days we were there, and the coffee tray wasn’t wiped either,so clearly their cleaning regime needs to be upped. We also had to ask twice for our tea and coffee to be replenished - on our 2nd day they also forgot the milk. Lamp missing on the one side of the bed, so as the room had no actual window (just a large inset French door), it made that one side pitch dark. We asked 3 times for a lamp only to be told they couldn’t find one (really???) so my husband was unable to read in bed. There was also a spot light hanging out of the ceiling on the one side and missing curtain hooks. Worst thing was that on our 2nd night we returned to find the front door handle broken and all in bits on the side, with the door propped wide open, which is how it had to stay the whole next 2 days and nights. It meant we were only protected by our own bedroom door and literally anyone could have walked in off the street (it’s on a very busy main road). It wasn’t fixed til the morning we left. The safe in our room was also out of action and we were given some flimsy excuse about ‘all the safes aren’t working at the moment’. All in all, it’s a great place but they have to seriously up their game. Housekeeping needs attention, and why didn’t they have a maintenance guy on call to fix the front door handle right away? That sort of thing should have been sorted within hours, not take 2 days. The staff also need to show more empathy - the receptionists we dealt with didn’t really seem to care less or make any proper effort to address any of our concerns. If they had, we might have considered returning in future. For the calibre of hotel and price paid, we expected much better.

For a very expensive city the Murrayfield Hotel in Edinburgh does NOT offer good value for money. This hotel is in a great position if you do not want to stay in the city centre or are in Edinburgh just for the rugby. Buses into the city are cheap and regular. The rooms are basic - very basic. They are small, dingy, terrible views, damp and mould on the wall behind the curtains. The whole Hotel seems to have been painted in a dark mushroom colour with little or no variation. Not much hanging space in the wardrobe - already occupied by an ironing board you did not ask for. There is a tiny table at the end of the bed and a childs chair. Food at lunctime was lovely and served by really attentive staff who could not do enough for us. Sadly the team that served breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday morning were more interested in taking as long as possible to serve food which eventually arrived tepid rather than hot out of the pan. Luke warm coffee and tea is their speciality. I pointed out these food failings to the guy I believe was the weekend Restaurant Manager. He was not interested at all in what I had to say. POOR, POOR, POOR attitude. If only the lady who looked after us on Friday worked weekends - I am sure it would have all been so different.
Would we stay there again? No. I would definitely try the budget hotels whose service and comfort levels could easily beat anything offered by the Murrayfield. Such a shame. It got off to such a good start on the Friday lunchtime.

Two nights, two dreadful night's sleep. How a hotel charging over £300 a night can put guests in such noisy rooms is beyond me. In fact it is contemptuous of guests. We were in a room beside a main road, where the traffic noise was relentless. The windows weren't double glazed (a receptionist said they weren't allowed to put in double glazing, but I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible to put some kind of noise-deadening inside the window). When we checked into the room I was concerned about the noise and the receptionist said it quietened down. It did not. There was loud traffic noise all night long.
We were originally checked into another room in the hotel annex down the road. The room was horribly designed, consisting mainly of a vast wardrobe. When I drew back the curtains there was a man standing directly outside the window. We asked for another room.
We thought at least we would get a good breakfast, but they were pretty awful. A fried breakfast included one small mushroom and half a tomato and something burnt and inedible that I was told was a sausage. My wife asked for a granola bowl, which appeared to be cheap bone-dry muesli. The tea was a cheap teabag, the coffee was undrinkable (you could get a coffee "from the machine" for an extra cost).
I have no complaint about the staff. They were friendly and helpful. But overall the hotel is disgraceful. To knowingly put guests in such dreadfully noisy rooms is appalling. It is unforgivably complacent.
Only stay in this hotel if you are guaranteed a room in the back of the main building, and are prepared to pay a lot of money for an establishment that treats guests with such distain.

A group of 10 of us booked two tables for food and drinks before an event at Murrayfield Stadium. They refused to accommodate us at adjoining tables and we were actually split between two separate rooms, one table in the bar and the other table through in a separate dining room. The dishes we ordered to eat were decent enough but the portions were ridiculously small,we actually had a laugh about it as they were like children’s portions. Needless to say they weren’t priced as children’s meals. We wouldn’t return to the same venue for food and drinks if attending Murrayfield stadium in the future. Quite disappointing.

There are a couple of stairs on the property adjacent to where the original hotel is. No elevator in this building. The rooms are spacious and there was a heavily frosted door to the bathroom separating the bedroom area and bathroom. No breakfast was included for us. there is a tea kettle and an "instant" coffee set up in the room.
There are more places to choose from in the Edinburgh area.
