Loved our stay here! Four of us in a lovely, spacious apartment in the Chester St, extension with everything we needed for our one-night stay. Loved the room service breakfast, delivered exactly on-time by two waiters up three flights with no complaints! Pricey, but worth it!

Just looking through photos of our holiday last year (Scotland & Croatia) When we were lucky even to stay at the Chester Residence Mid July for 5 nights. The rooms were huge, the staff were so helpful & friendly, location fantastic. We hope to visit again in the future again!! I believe we had rooms 9/2 & 9/3 in the...

Wonderful retreat from home. Beautiful old refurbished apartments. Great welcoming kilted staff. Complementary pre dinner drinks in the bar. Resturant booked for us and transport arranged, nothing too much trouble. We walked into the centre of the city in 10 minutes.

We stayed for four nights and enjoyed our spacious apartment very much. Everything is very stylish and of finest quality. What's missing, though, is a little personal touch here and there. Front desk staff are very helpful and efficient but they didn't really make us feel "at home". They obviously don't go with the one face to the customer-approach at...

Would choose it again when returning to Edinburgh. Nice units in a residencial neighbourhood, walknig distance from many atractions. Old apartments completely refurbished. No lift, higher apartments are in 2nd floor (3rd for american standards).

Exactly as advertised. The photos show quite accurate depictions of the rooms. Superb staff and a decent location. We walked everywhere easily throughout our stay often using the restaurants recommend in the book we received on check in.

My husband I stayed here for our final leg of a ten day trip. I can't speak highly enough about the apartment. It was huge and beautiful. (Building nine, apt. two) The master bedroom looked out to a courtyard. What you see in pictures for this residence is what you get! One of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed...

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at The Chester Residence. It was a trip down memory lane for me as I used to live in Chester St when I was a student at the University of Edinburgh. The staff were charming, helpful and attentive, taking us round to the Chester Street annexe where we were shown into the...

This has to be not only the Best accommodation in all of the UK but also the best value. A suite of rooms, absolutely sublime comfort, wonderful staff (nothing is too much trouble especially when you consider the accommodation consists of four residences!) , centrally located; just exceptional.

Have been looking forward to trying Chester Residence for months and it didn't disappoint. The service is impeccable and we were made to feel very welcome and all our needs were catered for. The location is in a beautiful part of Edinburgh and only a few mins from the centre but immersed in peaceful tranquility. Parking was easy, we parked...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

“As this is Georgian Edinburgh, the ceilings are hugely high - so this means long staircases. You might prefer a ground-level apartment.”
