The overnight rate was high with no breakfast included. The music in the bar, at weekends only, was extremely loud until well after midnight. Not a party pooper but it is a definite reason I wouldn’t return over a weekend. Staff were lovely, especially the American waitress who serves us on Friday night. Thank you.

Average about sums it up. Doesn't mean it's poor but equally hard to rate it higher. Much of my review, like all, is largely subjective. The location is hard to fault, it's central and easy to get to everything you might want. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but had everything i needed. The decor a bit quirky for my tastes but it wasn't a big deal either. Bed was very comfortable and no complaints there. Bathroom was perfectly adequate also. It was nice to have an iron & ironing board in the room also, so an extra tick for that. Breakfast service was a little slow the first night, but fine the second time. The menu was limited to say the least and not included in the room rate like many places we stayed on this trip. The eggs benedict however were perfectly cooked and very enjoyable. The bar scene at night definitely not for me and with so many cosy bars around the city one is spoiled for choice. Overall value was average compared to others in the city. Would I stay there again, probably, Would I check out a few other places next time as well, definitely.…

Called in for breakfast - 8 of us in total. Very good service, attentive, fast, great coffee and food, lovely server. Reasonable prices. Would recommend if you are in Edinburgh. Just off George Street, around ten minutes from Waverley Station.

Great hotel to stay in Edinburgh, decor based on famous Scottish People but done very tastefully. Cosy reception and bar with a good atmosphere and breakfast very good. Bedroom also based on a Scottish personality we had Andy Murray room, very comfy .

Beautiful property in a fantastic location. The uniqueness of this hotel is fascinating and the service is exemplary. Good old fashioned hospitality. Excellent breakfast in a glorious breakfast room. I stay in a lot of hotels and the breakfast experience can be ruddy awful but not here. Great setting, ambiance and food. I had Calvin Harris stay in my room! I’m not lying! Who doesn’t love a tunnocks?

Booked a table for 4 for drinks ..meeting friends visiting from Ayrshire. The pub wasn't particularly busy. After standing at the bar waiting to get served I saw our table was ready even altho we were early and left.my husband still trying to get a drink. Eventually a waitress came up and asked if I was the booking . I said so and can she get us a drink as it's been 15 mins at the bar and still no success. She asked if we were eating ..I said no she said well then no , and walked off. We wanted to leave but couldn't as our friends were still to arrive. Eventually got our drinks ..the bar was even quieter when our friends arrived ..another 15 mins later to get another two drinks! We had another 40 mins before we had to leave so decided to try again for another round with two of the men at separate parts for the bar .no joy. We decided to leave ..I found the waitress to tell her ..and she said oh do you want me to you drinks now ..I can get them immediately. What!!!?? I said ..eh no...you said originally you couldn't get us drinks ..won't be back And after having such a nice experience the week before prior to the mcfly gig ..very accommodating staff and lovely cocktails. Btw there were a lot of couples and groups coming in standing at the bar and leaving. Shocking service. And I booked a table with the threat of £40 taken off me if I cancelled. And also if part of our party didn't turn up!!!!!!!…

Excellent location and good value breakfast. We unfortunately had a room near the air con unit that kept my partner awake . At 1am I went to reception and was offered another room on the same floor but then was offered another room elsewhere in the hotel that the night staff member Ian thought would be more suitable, he even offered to help us move . Can’t thank you enough Ian that ensured we had a good night sleep and enjoyed our break away . Thank you
