Neighbourhood
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

Had a short stopover at the hotel and from the moment I first communicated with Joanna, I could tell we were in safe hands!! Nice and easy to find, it provided the perfect oasis to stop after a long journey before exploring Edinburgh. First impression was, it is a busy hotel!!

Extremely friendly and professional staff room was nice but considering it was a king deluxe it was just a bit larger than a double really and couldn't really see why it was a deluxe as there were no added features luxuries. Location was great for all main areas and breakfast

Review collected in partnership with DoubleTree by Hilton
Standard Hilton sounds a bit "iffy", but you know what you get. A quick taxi from the airport put me outside & it was obviously very centrally situated. Reception was excellent & made one feel welcome plus the sparkling water & cookie were welcome after the flight. Room was

Dear M7954KPpaulh, Thank you for taking the the time to review the hotel after your recent stay with us. Although I am delighted to read that you had a great stay with the team taking care of your after your long flight along with good food in the bar and service throughout, I am sorry to read that we were a "standard Hilton" and that we were too central. I am confident that the team would have moved your room without hesitation as we appreciate that people have different needs so can only apologise that the traffic noise meant not a great sleep. I appreciate your feedback and hope that this did not detract from your overall city visit. Thank you Ronald Little General Manager

I was staying as part of a works team building event. Arriving by train the hotel was a £5 taxi or 20 minutes walk, so given I had luggage it was a taxi. Room was huge with two very comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was large, well stocked and delicious, Staff were wonderful

Hello, Thank you for the great question. The above traveller did not have one and that is the case for our rooms on the top floor with an uninterrupted view of Edinburgh Castle and the city skyline. We do however have Executive Rooms on the Third Floor which are Castle view but not a city skyline and they do have sofa beds. Hope that this helps. Thanks Ronald Little General Manager

Hi noilharper, Thank you for the questions regarding our room configuration. All of our King Deluxe Rooms have a sofa bed so that you would have a room that can accommodate 3 adults. This would be a King Bed and a Single Bed. Hope that this helps. Thanks Ronald

How far is this to walk to the royal mile
Hello Debbie11365, The hotel is located 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Castle which is at the top of the Royal Mile. Edinburgh is very hilly so please make sure you have comfortable walking shoes as it is best seen on foot. Thanks Ronald Little General Manager

Do the standard rooms have tea making facilities?
Hi Wendygibson008, Thank you for your question. I can confirm that all rooms have Tea and Coffee making facilities with breakfast tea, flavoured tea, coffee and decaf as standard which are replenished daily or on request if you need any more during your stay. Hope that this helps. Thanks Ronald Little General Manager

does the hotel service a buffet breakfast ?
Hi, Apologies for the delay in my response as I didn't see your question. There is a Breakfast Buffet each morning for guests to chose from with a vast selection to cater for most with all other food a la carte and individually priced throughout the day. Thanks Ronald Little General Manager
