Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very convenient location near the University. Friendly and helpful staff. En-suite bedroom was well-appointed but tiny - hardly any storage and nowhere to put luggage except on the floor in the way. Double bed against the wall because room only about 2.5 m wide. Narrow dingy corridors and stair wells with many strongly sprung doors and no lift (4 floors). Noisy fans outside all night disturbed sleep. Breakfast was OK, good selection of local produce and attentive staff, but breakfast room was dark and uninviting.

Spent 3 nights at KM central, very comfortable bed, shower was good, breakfast was tasty and set us up well for a days exploration of Edinburgh. Hotel is well situated near the old town but in a quieter area, staff were friendly and happy to help.

The hotel is near the main street and attractions in town. My fiancee and I stayed there for 3 nights and when we got there the tv in our room wasn't working, but the guy in the reception (I'm so sorry I forgot his name) moved us from another room which was very kind of him. They also left a box of fudge and a lovely card for me as my fiancee told them we were there to celebrate my birthday. The breakfast was really good!!! I'm not a big fan of scottish/english breakfast, but they have plenty of other options including delicious fruits, great quality yogurt, cheese, cereal, good coffee and good selection of tea. One day the fire alarm went off and the staff let the guests have breakfast (obviously when the firefighters said it was ok for us to reenter the building) while the firefighters were still doing a search on the other building so we could stay cozy and fed lol as it was around 7 in the morning. I think the way the staff deals with unforseen situations is what makes the difference and I have nothing, but compliments to make to them. We had a great staying and on our last day they kept our luggage for a few hours so we could explore more the city before catching our train back. Hopefully I'll go back to Scotland next year as I want to see more of this beautiful country and definetely I'll stay again here. Thank you to the great staff and for making my birthday more special!

Great location to explore the city centre. Friendly staff at breakfast and reception. Our room on the 3rd floor got very warm but window could be opened fully for ventilation. There are mini supermarkets and ATMs nearby which was convenient. All in all we had a great stay.

Great Central Hotel. Quite overpriced but it is what you expect in Edinburgh. Room was very hot. Last guests rubbish found on windowsill. Breakfast ok. We were close to the end of service so quite cold and dried up. Staff fab and friendly

Our visit was gift from our daughter. 4day stay was very pleasant. Room was compact, clean but on the 3rd floor with no lift was quite tiring! Reception staff, cleaning staff and breakfast room staff - super, helpful, welcoming, pleasant, hardworking and efficient. The Breakfast room being in another building was a bit odd! But the food was very good. Plenty of choices of hot or cold." Hot" was quite cold for me, one morning, but staff microwaved it without a scene!!!

Location - Fine Bedroom - Fine Bed - Comfortable Power Shower - Excellent Staff - Excellent. Warm, Friendly & Helpful Breakfast - Excellent But the noise….. On two warm evenings I had to sleep with the window open. My room backed on to a supermarket that took lorry deliveries from about 4.00am and there was an air-con unit nearby constantly humming. Two of the worst nights sleeps I can remember. So, despite all of the positives, I cannot recommend this hotel and will not be staying here again. Shame, as everything else was impressive

Construction work for the 2 weeks whilst I was here. Nothing like waking up at 7am to loud slams and drill noises right outside your door until 6pm giving you a headache everyday. 4 different fire alarms that lasted several minutes and one that required evacuating the building. Found 2 alive bugs on the “fresh” towels we were given. All round terrible experience. Avoid at all costs
