Angie made us really welcome from the second we arrived to the second we left. She went out of her way to make sure we were happy, and was so good to us. What a beautiful place to stay, in a fantastic location just a stones throw from the beach and a short ride into Edinburgh City centre. The room was beautiful with everything you needed, a really comfortable bed and blackout shutters. Breakfast was also really tasty and freshly cooked. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and won't even consider staying anywhere else for our future trips to Edinburgh.
Excellent guesthouse with fantastic hosts Angela & Willie, this guesthouse is by far one of the best my wife and I have had the pleasure to stay in. We stayed here over a weekend to celebrate my birthday in Edinburgh. Our room was situated on the ground floor and was extremely spacious and well appointed. Lots of room with plenty of drawers and wardrobe, a very comfortable king-sized bed and a large couch to relax on. The complimentary hot drinks tray was well stocked along with nice biscuits. The room & bathroom were cleaned to a high standard with a plentiful supply of soft towels. A nice touch was when we returned late at night after a long day/night celebrating the curtains had been drawn, side lights on and the heating turned up. I informed Angela that I am coeliac and would prefer some gluten free options for breakfast, this was no problem at all. Breakfasts are sublime, well cooked, well presented and generous portions. I had gluten free sausages and plenty of nice gluten free bread. There is a beautiful lounge to relax in although we didn't get time to use it. There are bus stops directly outside and a frequent bus service into and out of the city. Portobello beach is a 5 minute walk, it was lovely to walk along the promenade on a Sunday morning to blow away the previous nights celebrations. This guesthouse deserves a 5 star rating, nothing is to much trouble for the fantastic hosts. I love staying somewhere that makes you feel welcome and it's great to chat with Angela over breakfast. Thanks for a great stay, if we're looking to stay in Edinburgh again we'll definitely be back.…
What a fabulous place! Absolutely beautiful and luxurious! Angela and Willie were perfect hosts and made us feel so welcome. The room was perfect, it was so easy to do everything that my friend and I had planned for my birthday treat.. Portobello has so much to off and we were a quick bus ride away from Edinburgh’s centre. The guest house is only a short walk down to the beach too. I had a great sleep and the breakfast was perfect. It really set us up to have an excellent time! Thank you so much Abercorn!!
The owners of this B and B are vpery friendly and were able to give great advice about local places eat in and to visit. The room was very good. A decent size with a good bathroom. They serve a good breakfast too. Definitely worth staying again there in the future.
From the moment we checked in we felt very welcome and at home. The house was very well presented with lovely furnishings and felt very comfortable. The room itself was brilliant, very spacious and bright. Everything was very clean and it was a nice surprise to have the bed made and refreshments replaced every day. There was a good choice for breakfast and everything was well presented and tasty. The host Angela made our stay even more special, she was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area such as buses, local amenities and things to do. After reading the reviews before visiting it almost seemed too good to be true, but after staying here ourselves we found our experience to meet and exceed the reviews and our expectations We would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be returning in the future.…
My wife and I have just spent 5 nights at the Abercorn, when looking to go to Edinburgh we decided to stay a short way out of the city in Portabello and we are so glad we did and found this gem of a place. The house is stunning and very stylishly decorated. Our room was large spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with very good quality produce very well cooked and presented. The location is great with a 2 minute walk to the sea front and Portabello has a good choice of pubs and restaurants and is a short bus ride into the city. The hosts Angie and Willie are so very warm friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. We would recommend this guest house to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.
We have just stayed here as our cousin was getting married in Edinburgh. We have had a lovely stay at the abercorn guest house and Angela couldn't do enough. We were greeted by her and her partner and showed to a beautiful bedroom. The whole house is absolutely stunning and the breakfast was delicious. The are is great, it's out of Edinburgh so less touristy which was good because you got to see little quirky shops. It's right near the sea front and only a bus ride away from the old town. We are already planning our next stay at the guest house and can't recommend it enough.
A group of 10 of us had to travel to the area for a funeral. Angela was amazingly accommodating for us all. She couldn’t do enough to help. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Every room is beautifully finished. A stones throw from the beach and restaurants. Highly Recommend you stay here if I’m the area. Thank you so much.
What a wonderful guest house! We arrived here late after a long journey and were greeted with a most welcome pot of tea. Our room was clean and warm and spacious and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was superb - one of the best we have had in a B&B. We will definitely be back!
We had the pleasure of staying at Abercorn for two nights at the end of August, and we’re so impressed that we booked again for later in the year. Firstly, every room in the house is not only spotlessly clean, but is extremely well presented. Angela, the proprietor, is one of those people that has an innate ability to know how to furnish and dress a room to look both tasteful and comfortable, which she has done to great effect. The wealth of experience that both Angela and Willie have in the hospitality trade shines through in every detail, so that you come away feeling that you have stayed with friends more than as a customer. Fresh coffee on arrival, real flowers in the room, and a complimentary bottle of wine, when Ange discovered that I was celebrating my birthday, we’re just some of the instances of attention to detail that we enjoyed. Breakfast was both delicious and plentiful with a good choices offered. Location is handy for both Portobello beach, and is 50 metres from the bus stop to travel into the city centre, and if you do need any advice on the local attractions and amenities Ange is a mine of information. Needless to say, we would thoroughly recommend Abercorn House, you will not be disappointed.…
