Stayed for two nights as a birthday treat from my son and daughter in law. Hotel really central, very welcoming and helpful staff. We had a room on the third floor no 32 which had fab views and was nice and quiet. Lovely touches in the room such as hair straighteners, loaded I Pod and fluffy robes. A turn down...

Visited the bar with friends for drinks only on Saturday night while celebrating my birthday in Edinburgh. We went there especially for the teapot cocktail (Raspberry mule) which i had seen on their website! We ordered it for 5 people costing £30 total which got us 2 teapots which did 5 huge glasses (nearly pint sized!) worth of cocktail, which...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in March 2014 as part of a city break to Edinburgh. We booked a Georgian Mini Suite, which was expensive but definitely worth it as the room was stunning. Breakfast is at an additional cost. We only had this one one of the days as we wanted to have breakfast in...

We did enjoy our cocktails all the better because we sat at the bar and watched them being made. The bar was very busy but service was quick and there were booth seats to sit in. Most of the clientelle are younger but in the restaurant, the age group was quite mixed. Food looked good but we didn't have any....

We took advantage of the 2 main meals for £15 on a recent shopping trip and it was top class. The fish was beautifully cooked, skinny fries crunchy and service was great. The whole experience was pleasant from start to finish and we will definitely be back.

We had been recommended to come here for food and drinks so we booked a table for a Saturday night while we were in Edinburgh for the night! Atmosphere was great and the place was packed. Great cocktail selection, I chose the lychee martini first and it was one of the best cocktails I have ever had! Menu choice wasn't...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
