We arrived at the Ayden to an extremely warm welcome from David who was "flying solo" as Anita was away for the weekend. The Ayden is spotless, room was very well decorated and a really comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it including cereals, yougurts etc. Only a 10 min walk to the playhouse and 15-20 min to city centre with plenty of pubs/restaurants on the way. Thanks for a great stay David, will be booking up again in the future.

We were left in the hands of David while Anita was away and we couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming host who couldn’t do enough for us - from local restaurant recommendations, travel and general advice. The guest house in itself is lovely and immaculately clean, it has a very nice feel to it. Breakfast was also delicious and very filling - we had a full Scottish breakfast with anything extra that we asked for. We will definitely be back again! Thank you

We returned for a second time to celebrate a birthday and were welcomed a warmly as the first time. We were in room 6 again, in the top floor. This room is very cosy and has a very nice en-suite, but some people may find the stairs a bit narrow and steep. The breakfast choice is very good and very tasty. You can have everything from yoghurt through to veggie haggis and porridge. Pilrig Street is about half way down Leith Walk and there is free parking on the street. The area is bustling and full of good places to eat. A lovely friendly guest house.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden will be quieter as the road is a bus route and busy.

Recently stayed for 4 nights and we couldn't have found a better place. Our room was spacious, location excellent, and hosts Anita & David friendly and helpful. Particularly liked the idea of choosing breakfast from a menu the night before. Considering the reasonable rates we were not expecting such wonderful accommodation!

A fantastic family run guest house just a stone throw away from the city centre, great location, on street free parking, comfortable rooms, warm and welcoming hosts and a great breakfast to kickstart your day, a truly fantastic find, have used on a few occasions and always first class, also a steal compared to other Edinburgh prices.....highly recommend, 5 ⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️
