I would recommend this place to everyone Richard greeted me when i arrived with such a warm and friendly greeting the rooms are lovely and cosy the breakfast is beautiful i had a very early start the morning i was leaving an Richard had a breakfast bag ready for me the staff are brilliant and so friendly i would 100% go back x
What can I say but Excellent!!! We went down,a party of 4 and upon arriving had a really warm welcome from Richard who went out of his way to inform us on bus times and stops etc. The rooms were lovely and cosy with heating on all day, tea/ coffee making facilities with biscuits. The shower was lovely and warm, basically all you need including hair drier! The breakfast was delicious , you can make up your own choice the night before and the waiting staff were really lovely. Bus stop just around the corner takes you into Princes Street & Royal mile & taxis are very efficient. All in all lovely break away and I would not hesitate to recommend this guest house to anyone! Thank you Richard and staff, we will return! Much appreciated. David & party
Good location and although I would have preferred something more centrally Edinburgh city centre is very easy to reach via nearby bus routes anyway but to be honest it isn’t very far to walk to the city centre either. I was in town for the New Year’s Eve Hogmanay celebrations so being close to the city centre where all the action is was very important to me. Very pleasant stay at Dorstan Guest House and Richard was very welcoming when I arrived, the room was even ready before 2pm check in and Richard allowed me to check in early before 2pm and he was very helpful providing me with useful information on what buses to get into town etc. Breakfast was nice too with plenty of choice I prefer a traditional fry-up personally and I chose the fry-up option which was very filling to set you up for the day, but there was plenty of other breakfast choice too for those who prefer other things. I would be happy to stay at The Dorstan Guest House again. Although bed in my room was a single bed it appeared to be sinking in the centre which made it a bit uncomfortable at times but this was only a minor issue as far as I was concerned, room was good, and very clean, and very warm apart from this minor issue 😊…
We booked Dorstan house for an overnight stay on the way down to relatives in England. We wanted to visit Edinburgh Christmas Market and this Guest house looked perfect for our needs. Our host Richard was warm & welcoming. Our room was warm, clean & comfortable. There was parking at the guest house which was one of our priorities. A bus stop into town was just round the corner. The breakfast was lovely. I think you would be lucky to find such comfort in Edinburgh at such a reasonable price.
Stayed here for 2 nights on 7th December , wonderful guest house about 30 min walk from the centre . Fantastic three course breakfast with great choices . We had the room that is in the pic ,very comfortable with tv tea/coffee and on suite bathroom . Richard and his wife are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble . Well done Dorstan will definatly visit again
